📣 Important Reminder: Get Your Affairs in Order! 📜
This information is for those who want to ensure a smoother process for their loved ones when they're no longer here. 💕
Here's a checklist to help you get started:
1. Ensure that all your bank accounts have direct beneficiaries. This simplifies access for your loved ones with just a Death Certificate and their ID.
2. Consider a TOD (Transfer On Death) deed if you own property. It can save your heirs thousands and avoid the need for Probate.
3. Create a Living Will to specify your healthcare wishes if you can't communicate them yourself.
4. Establish a Durable Power of Attorney for legal decisions when you can't make them.
5. Set up a Power of Attorney for Healthcare to designate someone for medical decisions.
6. Create a Last Will & Testament to designate who gets your personal belongings.
7. Make a Funeral Planning Declaration to express your burial wishes and services.
By having these documents in place, you can avoid Probate. Otherwise, you'll need to open an estate account and go through a complex process.
Don't forget to:
- Compile a list of your financial accounts and information.
- Share your Apple ID, bank account logins, and passwords with a trusted person.
- Keep documentation and titles for vehicles and other assets in order.
Most importantly, have open conversations with your loved ones about your wishes. This ensures clarity and minimizes questions or hurt feelings.
Let's inspire our friends and family to take care of these important matters, making life easier for those left behind. 💪💖
