FJH Flag Pickup & T-Shirt Sales

Kootenai County Fire & Rescue has generously provided a portion of their facility to help us facilitate flag pickup and FJH t-shirt sales.

Please follow the traffic flow shown on the map and use the designated parking area located behind the building. To help ensure we do not interfere with fire service operations, we ask that all visitors enter and exit as directed.

Please exit the same way you entered.

In one week, our community will come together to honor the lives and service of Battalion Chiefs Frank J. Harwood and John G. Morrison, who made the ultimate sacrifice on June 29, 2025.

Please join us as we remember their dedication, courage, and commitment to protecting the people of our community. Their legacy continues to inspire us every day, and we invite the public to stand with us as we reflect, remember, and honor these two fallen heroes.

This memorial service is open to the public. We encourage all community members to attend as we pay tribute to Frank and John and support their families, friends, and fellow first responders.

Gone, but never forgotten.

June 29th Memorial planned for June 29, 2026

Kootenai County Fire & Rescue and the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department will honor our fallen brothers with a remembrance ceremony at 10:00am on June 29, 2026. This brief ceremony will be held at the Avista Pavilion at McEuen Park in Coeur d’Alene. Personnel from both fire departments and their families will be remembering our lost brothers, friends, and mentors- John G. Morrison and Frank J. Harwood.

McEuen Park will remain open during this event, and the public is invited to attend. We would like to provide the community with an opportunity to pay their respects, and to allow the fire service community a chance to give our thanks to all those that have supported us through this horrible incident. Please be aware that access and parking will be limited, so those attending should plan accordingly.

Our community showed up for us in an extraordinary way last year, and we are deeply grateful. Thank you to everyone who visited our stations, joined the processions, and lined our roadways as we transported our brothers to and from Spokane. Thank you also to all who participated in fundraisers for the families, donated to the Red and Blue Foundation and the Jeff Welch Foundation, left handmade tributes, or simply stopped to check on us. Your love and support have
meant more than words can express.

There will be a designated area at the pavilion for media coverage during the memorial. We will have designated Fire Department personnel available to interact with the media from 9:00-9:30a.m. prior to the event. Additionally, we will be holding a joint press conference for all interested parties on Thursday June 18, 2026, at 10:00am at the KCFR “Frank J Harwood Training Campus” located at 5271 E. Seltice Way in Post Falls.

Last week, one of our firefighter/paramedics, Daniel Klassen, had the opportunity to visit Cornerstone Christian Academy and provide a first aid presentation to a group of enthusiastic 5th and 6th grade students.

Teaching basic first aid skills helps empower young people to recognize emergencies, respond appropriately, and understand the important role of public safety professionals in our community. We always enjoy opportunities to connect with local students and share knowledge that could make a difference someday.

Today we’re celebrating the dads, stepdads, grandpas, father figures, and all the men who show up with steady hands, big hearts, and quiet strength.

A special thank you to the fathers in the fire service who balance serving their community with loving and leading their families at home. Whether you’re on shift, at the lake, behind the grill, coaching from the sidelines, or simply soaking up time with your people, we hope today brings you a little extra appreciation.

Please take note of this important warning!

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for Tuesday for hot, dry, and windy conditions. Temperatures will warm into the 80s to low 90s with relative humidity dropping in the teens. The hot, dry conditions combined with strong west winds will increase concerns for critical fire weather conditions. Any new or ongoing grass fires will be capable of spreading rapidly.

Today, we're recognizing the outstanding work of our Station 1 crews in Post Falls.

Recently, our personnel responded to a critical, life-threatening emergency. Their rapid action and clinical skill under pressure made all the difference in this patient surviving and reaching emergency surgery. The skills needed on this call were critical, and this is exactly why our personnel train so rigorously. We're sharing the heartfelt message below from a grateful family, and we continue to hope for a positive recovery.

Calls like this remind us that KCFR's greatest asset has always been our people. We couldn't be more proud of our team. This is exactly what it means to serve our community.
