Day 3 of retirement, so far so good. Stephanie Herman, City of Post Falls, gets photo credit for this candid which captured the ragged edges of my name plate after I removed it from the holder.😅

After 16 years, Thoreson retires from Post Falls City Council

A peaceful transition or transfer of power is a concept important to democratic governments in which the leadership peacefully hands over control of government to a newly-elected leadership.

Governor Little has ordered flags flown at half staff in honor of our officer. Condolences to the family of Officer Nick McDaniel and to his Post Falls Police family and friends.
Press release below from PFPD Chief Greg McLean:

09/08/2023

For the first time since the 2007 Post Falls municipal elections my name will not appear on the ballot in 2023. I’m so grateful to have represented the citizens of Post Falls on the council since first taking the oath of office in 2008.
Our community has evolved in the past 16 years and weathered the storms of a recession, the pandemic and the pain and gain that comes from growth. We’ve also celebrated success and community spirit. It’s been a challenge and a privilege to serve.
I’m hopeful that whomever next occupies Seat 1 will have a passion for Post Falls and a respect for the responsibility the role requires.
While I may be stepping down from elected office after four terms, I will continue to be involved and engaged in this wonderful community that’s been my home for nearly four decades.
Kerri
