Emergencies don't always come with a warning. Whether it's severe weather, wildfire, a power outage, or another unexpected event, having a basic emergency kit can make a stressful situation much easier.

A few simple supplies can help keep your family safe and comfortable until normal services are restored.

As we celebrate Independence Day with family and friends, let's all do our part to prevent wildfires and protect our communities.

Garza County is currently under a Burn Ban.

A few reminders:
โ€ข Fireworks are prohibited inside the city limits of Post.
โ€ข Outside the city limits, fireworks are NOT restricted, but please be sure to have access to water to extinguish stray embers.
โ€ข Garza County utilizes the PANO AI fire detection system, which monitors for smoke and helps emergency responders quickly locate potential fires.

Every spark matters, especially with the hot conditions we're experiencing. By following the burn ban and using good judgment, we can all help keep our neighbors, first responders, livestock, crops, and property safe this holiday weekend.

As we celebrate Independence Day with family, friends, and fireworks, let's make safety part of the holiday.

If your plans include alcohol:
๐Ÿš— Designate a sober driver before the celebration begins.
๐Ÿ“ฑ Use a rideshare or call a trusted friend or family member.
๐Ÿ”‘ Never let someone who is impaired get behind the wheel.

๐Ÿš” The Texas Department of Public Safety will participate in Operation CARE (Crash Awareness and Reduction Effort) from July 2 through July 5, with increased patrols focused on keeping Texas roads safe during the holiday travel period.

A little planning today can prevent a tragedy tomorrow.
