With this being the first week of August, Le Flore County will have schools starting this week with teachers reporting first and then students reporting a few days later.

So school busses will start running routes so be on the lookout for kids walking to and from the bus pickup and drop spots. Be watching for the flashing lights in all school zones slow down so that may mean that you have to leave a few minutes earlier to make sure you arrive at your destination on time.

Be aware of your surroundings and let's ensure that we have teachers and kiddos returning to work at school as safely as possible.

Be weather aware over the next few days. From late tonight April 23, 2026 until Monday April 27,2026. All severe weather threats are possible, tornados, large hail, gusty storm winds and heavy rain. Please have multiple ways to get weather alerts. If you lose power please reach out to your electrical power company.

If you must get out and about please do NOT drive into flooded roads there is no guarantee that the road that use to be there is still there. If you have a low water crossing in your area chances are going to be very high that it will NOT be passable so TURN AROUND DON’T DROWN! Don’t risk your life and the life of the first responders who will risk their lives to save yours.

If you receive storm damage please report that damage to

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the unfortunate line of duty death of Deputy Thomas “Walker” LeMay. Deputy LeMay’s End of Watch is 4/19/2026. He was a true servant of the people, a loving son, brother, and father to his most precious baby girl.

In honor of Deputy LeMay, a patrol vehicle has been placed on the front lawn of the courthouse for anyone wishing to do so, and decorations are welcome to honor this dedicated deputy.

During this horrendous incident, this office has been shown great love, support, and deep appreciation from our community, neighboring law enforcement agencies, and citizens as a whole. Your prayers, kind words, and acts of service have not gone unnoticed, and we are truly grateful during this difficult time.

We ask that you continue to keep Deputy LeMay’s family, friends, and brothers and sisters in blue in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate the days ahead. His sacrifice will never be forgotten, and his legacy of service and dedication will live on through all of us.

Blessed are the peacemakers.

Today April 15,2026 is a weather aware day. Please be weather aware. The potential for high end severe storms are possible today. Make sure you have multiple ways to get or receive weather alerts. Heavy rainfall, large hail and tornados are all possible today so the heavy rain will also lead to flash flooding so DO NOT DRIVE INTO FLOODED CREEKS OR DITCHES THAT HAVE FLOODED THE ROADWAY. TURN AROUND DON"T DROWN. When you drive through flooded creeks or swollen ditch lines you are not just jeopardizing your life but putting every first responders life in danger who is going to try and save you.

If you receive damage please report that damage to damage.ok.gov

3:55 PM Update Old Hwy 112 has been reopened. Please still use caution as PVIA is out there in Nail Creek Bridge area working on a water line. OG&E will be back out in that area again tomorrow so please use caution when driving through that area.

Old Hwy 112 at the Nail Creek crossing will be CLOSED today. This is being done so OG&E can work on the electrical lines where 2 poles snapped off on Tuesday.

Please reroute today so OG&E can get this done.

Dunbar Rd will reroute you to new 112 or you can take Nail Creek Rd to Gillmore Rd then over to Green Top Rd and reroute that way. But Old Hwy 112 from those locations will be closed.

Thank you Le Flore County Emergency Management.
