Starting next Tuesday, August 18th, the bridge on Central Street will be closed for maintenance and will reopen at a later date. Central Street will be closed at the designated markings, so plan your detours accordingly.

The 2026 edition of the Poteau Rodeo will be held next weekend, July 31st through August 1st, at Poteau’s Phil Gardenhire Memorial Arena, with activities starting each night at 8:00 PM.

Regarding the Oakland Cemetery:

If you currently have ground flowers at a gravesite, please have them removed by Friday, June 26th, due to mowing season.

In addition to the removal of ground flowers, the planting of rose bushes, or any type of flower, shrub, or tree is not allowed and must be removed by the previously mentioned date. If not, the groundskeeper will discard them then.

Starting June 2nd, through the 25th, the Poteau Kiwanis Club will begin offering free swimming lessons at the Twyman Park Pool:
> Tuesdays and Thursdays during this time period
> From 9:00 am to 10:00 am or 10:00 am til 11:00 am
> Limited spots available
> Ages 5 and up

If interested, come by Poteau City Hall and sign up to reserve your child's spot for this limited engagement.
