Washington County Prosecutor
John I. Jones, IV Announces Re-Election

Jones Will Continue to Stand with Victims,
Law Enforcement, and Enforce Our Laws

Potosi, Missouri – Washington County Prosecutor John I. Jones, IV announced he will be seeking reelection in 2026 as Prosecuting Attorney.

In his first term, Jones delivered on his promise to enforce the law, which has made Washington County a safer place to live, work, and do business.

A second term will continue to build on that success.

“I’m running for reelection as Washington County Prosecutor because I have a proven record of enforcing our laws, advocating for victims of crime, and standing with law enforcement,” said Washington County Prosecutor John I. Jones, IV.

“In my first term, we rebuilt theWashington County Prosecutor’s Office around the core belief that a prosecutor must enforce the law,
hold criminals accountable, stand with victims, and support law enforcement.

“The results speak for themselves: Washington County is safer for families and small business
owners. We are prosecuting cases at historic levels, filing and resolving matters faster than ever before, and modernizing case intake and management to cut down on wasted time
and taxpayer dollars.

“Unfortunately, criminals don’t stop, which means more work remains. To build on our success, I will seek funding to add another assistant prosecutor and expand services for
victims of crime. I will also invest in advanced training for my staff to ensure we continue strengthening our partnership with law enforcement.

“I’m running for reelection because Washington County deserves a prosecutor who will never waver in the fight for justice, who will continue to deliver results, and who will always put the safety of our community first.”

John Jones was first elected Washington County Prosecuting Attorney in November 2022. He and his family humbly thank everyone for their continued support and are excited to continue serving Washington County. Jones will be running as a Republican.

The Daily Journal wrote up a top story about our September appeal victory, which ensured I am on the ballot this Tuesday.

One point from the article that I want to emphasize is that if elected, i will assume office in January, just like any other candidate. The Journal reports in the second-to-last paragraph that the Clerk’s Office agrees with this understanding.

The only thing that remains to make a change, then, is for me to win the popular vote. Thanks to our win on appeal, that choice is in your hands! I again respectfully request you vote for me. Don’t forget—there is one more day of early voting Monday 11/7, and of course Election Day on Tuesday 11/8.

Voters going to the polls in Washington County this week will see two candidates for the county's office of prosecuting attorney on the general election ballot.
