β˜€οΈ Heat Safety Week 2026 β˜€οΈ

The National Integrated Heat Health Information System (NIHHIS), in partnership with the National Weather Service is hosting Heat Safety Week to educate the public on the dangers of heat and how to stay safe. The goal is to prevent heat-related illnesses, which are the number one weather-related killer in the U.S.

As temperatures rise this week, so does the risk of heat-related illness. Take a few simple steps to protect yourself, your family, coworkers, and pets during extreme heat:

πŸ’§ Drink plenty of water
🧒 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing
🌳 Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning
πŸš— Never leave children or pets in a vehicle
⚠️ Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke

Check on neighbors, older adults, and anyone working outdoors. Staying safe in the heat starts with preparation and awareness.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay safe.
