On October 5, 2026, at the Lower Pottsgrove Township meeting, William James was promoted to Chief of Police of the Lower Pottsgrove Township Police Department. Chief James was sworn in by Judge Kropp. Chief James has served the department for 28 years, and has 31 total years in law enforcement. Chief James was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2014, and to Lieutenant in 2020. Chief James has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Wilmington University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Class 267. He is also a graduate of the FBI LEEDA Trilogy, the FBI Mid Atlantic Law Enforcement Executive Seminar, and many other law enforcement courses. Lower Pottsgrove Township was thrilled to join state, regional, and local partners yesterday to celebrate the ribbon cutting and completion of a new 0.9-mile section of the Schuylkill River Trail! 🎉🚲🌳
This exciting addition helps connect communities and expands opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoors. With this new section in Lower Pottsgrove complete, trail users can now travel nearly 70 continuous miles from Bartram’s Garden in Philadelphia to Riverfront Park in Reading.
We’re proud to be part of this regional effort and excited to see the continued growth of the Schuylkill River Trail! 🌿
