Congratulations to the Schuylkill Leadership Class of 2026!

Our 21 graduates celebrated the completion of the Schuylkill Leadership program at Carmelo’s Roman Delight! The graduates have completed ten sessions of classroom learning and field trips over the past several months, growing both personally and professionally. They join a network of 724 graduates making a difference across our community.

A highlight of their journey: a class project benefiting Hillside SPCA. The planning, coordination and completion of this project is a great example of leadership in action!

We’d like to thank our program sponsor, the Masser Family of Companies, Sterman Masser, Inc. Potato Farms. The Masser family has been delivering the finest potatoes, potato products, and grains across the United States for generations.

POTTSVILLE, Pa. — A growing coalition of 81 local chambers of commerce from across Pennsylvania is urging members of the Pennsylvania General Assembly to continue investing in the child care workforce as part of the final 2026-27 state budget.

The coalition, led by the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce and joined by chambers representing communities in every region of the commonwealth, delivered a sign-on letter to state lawmakers calling for additional investments in the Child Care Staff Recruitment and Retention Program as well as the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts and Head Start Supplemental Assistance Programs.

The letter emphasizes that Pennsylvania’s child care crisis is not only a family issue, but also a workforce and economic development challenge. Employers across the commonwealth continue to report that working parents are struggling to find and afford quality child care, making it harder to fill open positions, maintain productivity, and support local economic growth.

Yesterday, the Chamber celebrated the ribbon cutting for Wild Acolytes in Saint Clair!

Wild Acolytes offers a little something for everyone, featuring Ruined Temple Press, an in-house bookshop with used books and indie titles, consigned clothing and home goods, and unique items such as tarot, spell jars, and other thoughtfully curated offerings. More than a shop, it's a welcoming space built around creativity, discovery, and community.

Congratulations to owner Jessica Ivey on this exciting new venture. We wish Wild Acolytes continued success and encourage everyone to stop in and explore all it has to offer!

Last Thursday, the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce hosted our May Schuylkill Women in Business Luncheon, generously sponsored by Mid Penn Bank and held at Carmelo's Roman Delight

Guests enjoyed an insightful presentation from Nicole Straub, Community Education Officer at Mid Penn Bank, who discussed the important connection between emotional, relational, and mental wellness in both our personal and professional lives. Nicole shared practical strategies for navigating stress, building strong relationships, and maintaining overall well-being.

The luncheon also marked a special transition for our committee leadership. We extend our sincere gratitude to Cynthia Mensch, Alvernia University Pottsville CollegeTowne, for her dedication and service as SWIB Chair and thank her for her leadership over the years. At the same time, we are excited to welcome Lori Guzick, Esq., Williamson, Friedberg & Jones, LLC, as the new Chair of the Schuylkill Women in Business Committee.
