๐Ÿช– โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™ During World War 2 in March 1945, an American soldier was killed on a bridge over the Rhine River as U.S. forces pushed deeper into N**i Germany. Newspapers across the nation published an iconic photo of the fallen hero, but his identity was a mystery until this year.

Through painstaking research, an international team of researchers finally identified the man in the photo as Private First Class Charles T. Plog of Poughkeepsie, New York.

On this Memorial Day, the City of Poughkeepsie honors PFC Plog and all of the courageous men and women who have given their lives for our country.

(Special thank you to Karen Lagrange Cox and the researchers who identified Plog in the photo.)

๐Ÿš›๐ŸŒณ Big shoutout to our sanitation workers who are out at the crack of dawn every Wednesday to collect countless bags of leaves and yard debris across the city.

A quick reminder of what they can pick up:
โœ… Leaves
โœ… Grass clippings
โœ… Brush (no longer than 3 feet)
โœ… Garden and yard debris
โœ… Use biodegradable bags and trash cans (with no garbage inside)

๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ’งHYDRANT TESTING: Check the link to see if your street is on this weekโ€™s list!

During the testing period, the water is safe, but should be run until itโ€™s clear. And use caution when doing white laundry. Itโ€™s recommended to wait 24 to 48 hours after testing has been done in your neighborhood.

We appreciate your patience. Hydrant testing is critical to make sure they work during emergencies.
