Arlington Engine Company #1 Inc.
1955 Oren Repair Project
In the summer of 1922 the American Engine Co #1, a volunteer organization reorganized into Arlington Engine Co #1 Inc. was formed to protect life and property in the newly formed Arlington Fire District with its Headquarters located at 766 Main St in Arlington N.Y. Our organization is funded by the dues of its member, income from fund raisers and donations. Over the years our company has helped fund by donations to The Arlington Fire District many projects like refurbishing at least two ambulances, thirty five thousand dollars for equipment for the rescue truck, twelve thousand five hundred dollars to fund the fire prevention program for one year for school children in the district and many more. We have donated tens of thousand of dollars to not for profit organizations like The Wounded Warrior Project, Local American legion, Holiday Helping hand for families in need, local high school for student’s projects etc.
In 1955 the Fire District purchased an Oren quad style fire truck. Quad style means the truck has four major components, a pump for firefighting, hose, booster equipment, and a full compliment of ladders. This new truck was stationed at Engine Company #1 Inc at 766 Main St Arlington N.Y. and given the designation “Arlington Fire District Truck One”. This allowed an Ahrens Fox truck stationed there to be reassigned to the newly formed Croft Corners Fire Company station. This Oren fire truck served the fire district for over twenty five years and then was later sold.
Recently members of the fire district located the Oren Truck at a salvage yard in disrepair and purchased the truck. The Oren Fire truck is currently in the process of being repaired. These repairs are extensive and have generated a need for funds for the Engine Company. When the repairs are completed the Oren truck will be on public display and parades, public firefighting awareness, fire prevention education, fund raising etc. Please help us keep our history alive and donate what you can so we can continue to educate and serve our community.
