The May 25th issue of Aging News is all about SCAMS! We are excited to share the new tool, SilverShield, for on demand scam prevention and support. Individuals can report suspicious text messages, calls, or emails directly through their phone or email. The system then provides step by step guidance on what to do — and what not to do — helping users avoid common pitfalls. We were delighted to welcome more than 300 older adults to the first picnic of our 2026 Summer Picnic Series, held today at Thomas J. Boyce Park in Wingdale. Guests enjoyed a delicious, nutritious lunch, lively music, and plenty of time to connect with local leaders and friendly faces from County departments.

Three of our very own Dutchess County OFA volunteers were honored yesterday at the New York State Office for the Aging Older Americans Day celebration! Dutchess County Government offices, including the Office for the Aging and its Friendship Centers, are closed today in observance of the Memorial Day federal holiday. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, May 26th.
