Behind every strong community office is a team of dedicated people working to make government more accessible — and Trinity was a huge part of that mission this semester.

From helping staff our Tuesday evening extended office hours to assisting constituents with state resources and services, Trinity brought professionalism, kindness and a true commitment to helping others every step of the way. We launched these expanded evening hours because we know working families can’t always make it to the office between 9 and 5, and Trinity played an important role in making sure our community received the support they needed.

We’re incredibly grateful for everything she contributed to our district office over the past few months. Trinity has been an invaluable member of our team, and we know this is only the beginning of a very bright future ahead. Thank you, Trinity!

From Dutchess Community College to the floor of the New York State Senate — what a journey for Chriss-Ann Pryce.

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to meet Chriss-Ann after she received both SUNY’s Norman R. McConney Jr. Award for Educational Opportunity Program Student Excellence and the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. It didn’t take long to recognize the talent, determination and leadership she brings to everything she does.

After graduating from Dutchess Community College, interning in our district office last summer, Chriss-Ann is now thriving at the University at Albany and serving as a SUNY EOP Ambassador, helping inspire and uplift the next generation of students.

She is an impressive scholar, a young woman of distinction, and someone I’m proud to call my friend. New York’s future is brighter because of leaders like Chriss-Ann.

Yesterday, the Senate once again passed the Lethality Assessment bill. Now, the Assembly must pass it — and the Governor must sign it. New Yorkers cannot afford to wait on a tool we know will save lives.

Here in Dutchess County, we’ve seen firsthand how effective lethality assessments can be in reducing domestic violence homicides. That’s why we’ve continued fighting to bring this tool statewide alongside our advocates, law enforcement partners, and support service organizations who know the impact it can make.

The program works because it does more than ask questions. It helps victims recognize the severity of their situation, often providing a life-changing moment of clarity. It creates an immediate connection to advocates and support services when victims need it most. And it strengthens coordination between law enforcement, prosecutors, judges, and service providers so everyone has a clearer understanding of the risk and how to respond.

This tool will save lives — and the data makes that clear.

Our friends at the Cornell University State Policy Advocacy Clinic, who have been incredible partners in this effort, created an interactive map showing the number of domestic violence victims across every county in New York. Every number represents a person, a family, and a life that deserves protection.

A strong community starts with investing in the next generation of leaders. Lydia from our office was proud to attend the Vassar College Office of Community-Engaged Learning end-of-semester celebration, where we celebrated our district office intern, Sophie, and her outstanding poster presentation highlighting her experience working in our office.

Since taking office, we’ve welcomed five Vassar College students as interns — and we’re especially proud that one was previously hired following her internship. Programs like these create meaningful opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience while helping strengthen our community.

Great work, Sophie — we’re so proud of you and all you’ve accomplished!

Public safety should always be the #1 priority of government, and that includes the safety of our pets.

Proud to support legislation this week relating to animal protections.

Moments like this week’s New York State Police Memorial ceremony are powerful reminders that behind every officer is a family whose story, sacrifice, and strength will never be forgotten.

I attended alongside my colleague, retired NYPD Sergeant Senator Steve Chan, and we had the opportunity to spend time with the family of NYPD Officer Wenjian Liu, who was killed in the line of duty on December 20, 2014. His name is forever etched into the memorial, and his service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Celebrating a longtime friend, Karen Hochhauser, executive director of the Jewish Federation of Dutchess County, honored as a 2026 Woman of Distinction by the New York State Senate, was incredibly special.

A lifelong Dutchess County resident, Karen brings both deep local roots and a global perspective to everything she does. After nearly two decades living in Asia, where she raised her three children, she returned home with a renewed commitment to serve the community that shaped her. As Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of Dutchess County, she works every day to strengthen connections, support families, and expand access to critical resources across the Hudson Valley.

Karen leads with heart, purpose, and a true belief in lifting others up, whether through her work, her leadership, or her dedication to empowering women. This recognition is so well deserved, and I feel incredibly lucky to call her a friend.

Karen, you embody the spirit.

Today at the New York State Police Memorial at Empire State Plaza, we joined in a solemn remembrance ceremony honoring the brave men and women of law enforcement who made the ultimate sacrifice. The granite memorial bears nearly 2,000 names—each representing a life of courage, dedication, and service, and families and departments from across our state who continue to carry that loss.

I was proud to stand alongside members of the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Dept., where I served for 26 years, to pay tribute and ensure these heroes are never forgotten. Their sacrifice will always be remembered, honored, and deeply appreciated.
