Next weekend is Labor Day weekend and Dutchess County law enforcement will increase patrols through Sept. 7th as part of the statewide STOP-DWI campaign to keep our roads safe.

Our Dutchess County Office for the Aging (OFA) concluded another successful Summer Picnic Series this afternoon, hosting its final picnic of the season in East Fishkill. Hundreds of local older adults enjoyed a great day at Hopewell Recreation Park, complete with a delicious lunch, live entertainment, and connections with friends, neighbors, and local leaders.

At today's picnic, County Executive Sue Serino and our Dutchess County Office of Veterans Affairs presented American Legion Post 203 in Beacon with $11,375 in County funding through out 2026 Veteran Microgrants program to support upgrades to their facility.

The OFA's 2026 Summer Picnic Series welcomed several thousand Dutchess County residents, and we thank them all for attending and making memories we hope they’ll long cherish. And, of course, we couldn’t have had a successful picnic series without the help and our dedicated OFA staff and volunteers, local community partners, and our 12 host sites who all collaborated to bring happiness to so many of our neighbors.

Tenmile Farm Foundation is an invaluable partner in County Executive Sue Serino's Food Security Council, having donated more than 159,000 pounds of fresh produce to non-profit organizations in Dutchess County last year alone. When County Executive Serino committed up to $1.5 million to support local food pantries to assist County residents who receive SNAP benefits that were paused last autumn, Tenmile was key in distributing and delivering fresh fruits, vegetables, and eggs to pantries throughout Dutchess County.

The County Executive and NYS Senator Rob Rolison joined County staff on a recent tour of Tenmile Farm Foundation, led by its executive director, Gibson Durnford, a member of the Food Security Council, to see how its farm in Dover Plains feeds so many throughout the region.
