On Tuesday, we gathered to celebrate our graduating Tribal and Indigenous students at the NKSD Native American Graduation Honoring, hosted by the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe.

Each student got to share their plans after high school, as well as thank those who helped them get to where they are now. We are so proud of all of our graduates, and extremely thankful to the family, friends, and community members who took time to come celebrate with us πŸ’™πŸ’š

Poulsbo Middle School's Leadership class has been putting their skills to the test with student-led presentations on leadership qualities! 🌟

Recently, a group of students presented on Confidence. They kicked things off by asking classmates to write down what confidence means to them, then brought the concept to life when two students stepped up to perform karaoke in front of the class. From there, students broke into small groups for a round of charades, acting out activities drawn from a hat, with special guest group member Superintendent Davenport. The session wrapped up with a compliment circle, giving every student the chance to hear something kind from their peers β€” a meaningful way to help those who may be working on building their own confidence find something to feel good about.

It was a creative and thoughtful way to bring a leadership quality to life in the classroom.

Last night, we gathered to honor our graduating students of Native American descent at a special Native American Graduate Honoring Ceremony.

Graduates, families, and community members came together for a celebration rooted in cultural tradition, a delicious dinner, and well deserved recognition of each student's achievements and the journey ahead. Thank you to the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe for hosting such a wonderful evening. Congratulations to all of our Native graduates, we are so proud of you! ❀️

Yesterday, NKHS celebrated spring student athletes, our National Merit Finalist, and surprised Ethan, the ASB Executive President, with a heartfelt thank you for an outstanding year of leadership. The biggest moment of the morning, however, was one nobody saw coming. πŸ’œπŸ’›

Student Marques surprised the crowd by showing off his new prosthetic arm. Back in December during Winter Wishes, a fellow student submitted a wish on Marques' behalf, and the generosity of NKHS students, staff, and community members came through in a big way, raising enough money to present him with a check toward a prosthetic arm. Seeing him walk into that assembly yesterday with his new arm was the best possible update to that story.

Congratulations to Marques, and thank you to everyone who made this possible. This is what Viking community looks like. πŸ’œπŸ’›

Back in May, students from Kingston Middle School, Kingston High School, and Poulsbo Middle School brought their ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles) to the NKSD pool for a morning of skill testing! 🌊

Students navigated their ROVs through submerged challenges and worked on retrieving objects from the bottom of the pool. Community volunteer divers were on hand to assist below the surface, keeping the students dry while making the whole event possible.

It was a great opportunity for students across our district to put their engineering skills to the test and see their hard work in action!

Yesterday, the Commons at Kingston Middle School turned into a Pokemon battle arena for the first annual KMS Pokemon Tournament!⚑

Graphic Design students faced off in a Pokemon tournament featuring cards they designed themselves. They spent two weeks building their own original Pokemon from scratch using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, starting from hand-drawn concepts and developing both the artwork and gameplay aspects of each card. After a week of game practice, yesterday was the day it all came together, with students competing against each other in a Kingston Middle School version of Pokemon and putting their creativity and craftsmanship to the ultimate test.

Thank you to our Graphic Design teacher, Mr. Wittman, for creating such an immersive and fun experience for our current and future students.

✨ CTE Highlight – Skilled & Technical Sciences ✨

In today's spotlight, we're featuring Yearbook at North Kitsap High School. After months of hard work, the yearbooks arrived β€” and seniors got to see the process through to the very end, carefully installing inserts into each copy before distribution. It's a fitting final chapter for a class that took the book from concept to finished product.

This course, which covers photography, writing, graphics, advertising, layout, and the publishing process using professional digital tools, connects to the Arts, A/V Technology, & Communications Career Cluster, helping students explore pathways in graphic design, journalism, photography, and media production.
