Sara Stein Garden Sara Stein Garden has been preserved to show this pioneer's handiwork! The purpose was usually to support wildlife and the environment.

As the country's pioneer for using native plants, Sara Stein's garden(s) here in Pound Ridge, NY show the stages of her botanical pursuits - from formal flower garden to native meadows to wetlands and moss gardens. "Did Sara plant this?" is what we always ask ourselves first when navigating her carefully designed environs which we are so fortunate to experience.
