Glad the President is focusing on the really important things that are going to improve the lives of Poway residents, like proposing to rename Lake Ontario.

While executive energy goes toward geographical name changes and political theater, working families right here in San Diego County are still navigating real-world challenges, like actually paying those grocery bills. Voters deserve practical solutions, not performative distractions.

Let’s elect leaders who actually care about governing.

The Supreme Court's conservative majority just handed Trump an interim win on his anti-mail voting executive order, creating potential chaos just months before the midterms.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson issued a blistering dissent, calling out the majority for needlessly injecting "chaos and uncertainty" into our elections. While she notes that the Court hasn't foreclosed states from challenging this unconstitutional order, she rightly points out the impossible bind this creates: "The majority just signals that these claimants had to wait, even though the election cycle had started and despite facing pocketbook costs, threats of prosecution, and an affront to their sovereignty, before receiving the relief to which they are likely entitled."

This executive order is a clear attempt to bypass Congress and undermine our proven election systems by putting federal agencies like the USPS and DHS in charge of who can vote by mail. We cannot let this stand. Democracy is not guaranteed; we must fight for it.

Poll workers needed for this November’s election.

The Registrar of Voters is calling on community members to sign up as poll workers for the Nov. 3 General Election.

The need for poll workers is highest in Carlsbad, central San Diego, Oceanside, and Vista, where additional workers are required to staff nearby vote centers.

Why aren't candidates listed in alphabetical order on your ballot? Since 1975, the State of California selects a random order. This gives every candidate an equal chance at appearing at the top of the list.

The California Secretary of State held a randomized alphabet drawing to determine the order in which candidates’ names will appear on the November 3, 2026, General Election ballots.

As families gear up for another school year, keeping our kids healthy and our classrooms open is a top priority for our community! 🎒🍎

The California Department of Public Health reminds us that vaccines protect our children from serious diseases and ensure our schools can continue thriving without disruption.

Let's do our part to support our educators and students. Make sure all school-required vaccines are up to date before the first bell rings!

There is something reassuring about a leader who values a good book. 📚 Reading broadens our perspectives, fosters empathy, and reminds us of our shared humanity, qualities we always look for in our leadership. Barack Obama’s reading lists are a great reminder of the importance of intellectual curiosity, whether you are diving into policy or getting lost in a beautifully written novel.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an incredibly inspiring July club meeting! 🌟 Our main program focused on the real-world "Experience of Running For and Holding Local Office," featuring two fantastic speakers and trailblazers in our region.

We were honored to hear from Mara Elliott, past San Diego City Attorney, proud PDC member, and our endorsed candidate for State Senate District 40, alongside Assemblywoman Darshana Patel, a past PUSD Trustee who now represents the 76th District in the California Legislature.

Both women shared powerful, firsthand insights about their transitions from other roles into public office, detailing the unique challenges they met and overcame along the way. Their stories are a true testament to what it takes to step up and serve our community!

You can make a difference! Join our members in improving our community and electing effective and responsible leaders at all levels.
