Today is the day, Poway! 🗳️ Primary Election Day is officially here in California, and your vote is your voice.

Looking back at these photos from the Poway Spring Festival, we are reminded of exactly why we do this. It was a scorching day, felt more like mid-summer than spring!, but the energy in our community was absolutely incredible. We loved seeing our local businesses thriving, watching the amazing performances from our talented neighborhood kids, and eating our way through the fantastic food vendors.

Most of all, our Poway Democratic Club volunteers had the best time connecting with so many of you at our tent, answering questions, and helping our neighbors get ready for this very day.

Community thrives when we all participate. If you haven’t cast your ballot yet, there is still time! Polling places and ballot drop boxes are open until 8:00 PM tonight. Let’s make sure Poway’s voice is heard loud and clear for a fair, inclusive, and responsible local government.

Hey Poway! 🗳️ Your ballot is your voice,let’s make sure it gets counted safely and efficiently.

The Poway Democratic Club is encouraging all members and friendly independent voters to vote as soon as possible. While voting by mail is great, dropping your ballot directly into an official County Registrar drop box is the fastest, most secure way to ensure your vote is received directly without any postal delays.

Poway has three official ballot drop box locations open now through Election Day (Tuesday, June 2nd). Find the one closest to you:

Today, the Poway Democratic Club joins our community and nation in solemn remembrance of the brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a time to look beyond our differences and unite in profound gratitude for the service members who laid down their lives to protect our democracy, our freedoms, and each other. We also hold space today for the families and loved ones they left behind, whose sacrifices are woven into the fabric of our nation.

As we gather with family and friends in Poway today, let us honor their memory not just with words, but by recommitting ourselves to the ideals they died defending: liberty, justice, equality, and a fair, inclusive democracy for all.

We wish everyone a safe, meaningful, and reflective Memorial Day.

Donald Trump is giving $1.8 Billion of your taxpayer money to people who brutally beat police officers in his name at the Capitol on Jan 6. It’s such a shocking move that police officers who were hurt on that day are suing to stop it. If you’re still supporting Trump, then you’d better go scrape that Thin Blue Line sticker off your car, because you sure aren’t on the side of law enforcement officers.

Our hearts are heavy and filled with profound grief following Monday's horrific shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego. We forcefully condemn this senseless hate crime, and we mourn the beautiful, heroic lives of Amin Abdullah, Mansour Kaziha, and Nadir Awad, who tragically lost their lives protecting children and their community.

This shooting reopens the profound wounds of the deadly 2019 Chabad of Poway synagogue shooting. Whether it is a mosque in Clairemont or a synagogue in Poway, no one should ever have to live or pray in fear. Houses of worship must be sacred sanctuaries of peace, faith, and reflection, not targets for violent extremism.

We must stand united, neighbors of all faiths, against the rising tide of bigotry. Thoughts and prayers are no longer enough; we need common-sense actions to stop the weaponization of hate. It is long past time to ensure our religious spaces are entirely free from the terror of gun violence.

To our Muslim neighbors, the Poway Democratic Club stands with you in mourning, in solidarity, and in the unwavering pursuit of a safer, more inclusive future.

It’s easy to lump "millionaires" and "billionaires" into the same general category of wealth. But with nearly 1,000 billionaires now in the U.S., understanding the true, staggering scale of that gap is vital as we advocate for a fair, inclusive, and responsible government.

Most of us struggle to picture what a billion actually means because our brains aren't wired for numbers that large. To put it into perspective, let’s look at it in terms of time:

⏱️ 1 Million seconds is about 11.5 days. (A comfortable vacation)
📅 1 Billion seconds is about 31.7 years. (An entire career)

The difference between a millionaire and a billionaire isn't just a matter of having "a bit more." You need a thousand millions just to reach a single billion.

When we talk about rewriting the rules of our economy to support working families, small business owners, and the middle class, this is the vast disparity we are addressing. Let’s work together to build an economy that reflects our community's values and works for everyone, not just the ultra-wealthy.

Ever wonder what a billion dollars looks like? In the last two months, it looks like a total waste of your hard-earned money. 💸

In March and April, the current administration agreed to pay energy companies nearly $1 billion in taxpayer funds, not to build something, but to abandon offshore wind projects. These projects would have provided clean, reliable electricity to over 1.3 million homes and businesses across New York, New Jersey, and North Carolina.

Why the massive payout to abandon clean energy?

It seems our progress is being sidelined by a personal crusade. Since losing a legal battle a decade ago to block a wind farm near his Scottish golf course, the president has targeted wind power with a passion that is now costing Americans dearly.

At the Poway Democratic Club, we believe in responsible government and leaders who prioritize national energy security over personal grievances. Paying corporations to forfeit clean energy projects doesn't just waste our money, it puts our energy future in peril.
