Attention Powhatan County Residents,

We want to inform the public that the PVRS Ballsville Substation, located 5901 Old Buckingham Rd, will not be operating as a warming station and will not have staffed personnel. Main Station and PVRS Fine Creek will also not be available for warming/charging. We understand the concern given this information.

If you are in need of a warming and charging station, please see the below locations. If you need assistance in getting to these locations, please call Powhatan County Safety Communications Non-Emergency line 804-598-5656.

In anticipation of this weekend’s winter weather system, Powhatan is planning to make several locations available to the public as warming centers and device charging stations during day-time hours. Residents may bring service animals, but not pets.

As citizens seek to find alternative heating methods incase of prolonged power outages, it’s important to understand the signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Please ensure that all gas-powered heating methods are rated for indoor use. Long term enclosed spaces running wood stoves should be adequately ventilated to ensure proper room oxygen levels.
