🎒It takes a community to help students start the school year with confidence! 📚

The members of PJWC collected and donated over $250 worth of school supplies ✏️ 📏 📓 to the Powhatan YMCA Bright Beginnings program. In addition, two members volunteered at the “shopping” event, where local children were able to pick up everything they need for a successful school year—including a brand-new backpack 🎒, school supplies ✂️📓✏️🖍️, a warm coat 🧥, books 📚, and a new pair of shoes. 👟

Together, we’re helping build brighter beginnings—one child at a time. ❤️

✨ This past weekend was our annual state conference and it was held at Natural Bridge Historic Hotel. It was such an AMAZING weekend! ✨

We had the BEST time! From learning more about GFWC VA projects, hearing from incredible speakers 🔊, to laughing 😂 until our cheeks hurt, making memories, and meeting amazing women from across the state—it truly was a weekend to remember! 💙💙💙

Our club was honored to watch one of our own be installed as the GFWC VA Secretary. 👩‍💼 We can’t wait to watch her grow!

This weekend was a beautiful reminder that GFWC Powhatan Junior Woman’s Club is so much more than service and it’s part of a bigger organization—it’s community, sisterhood, friendship, and leadership. 🫶🏼

Here’s to an amazing administration as we CREATE 🎨🎼, INSPIRE 🩰🎭 and GIVE 🤝💵.

🇺🇸 Volunteers Built America 🇺🇸

As our nation celebrates 250 years, I can’t help but think about all the women of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs.

For generations, clubwomen have seen a need and stepped forward. They built libraries, supported schools, cared for veterans, protected children, strengthened families, and lifted communities long before “community service” had a name.

America was not built by government alone.
It was built by neighbors.
By helpers.
By women who organized, served, raised funds, wrote letters, opened doors, and refused to give up.

GFWC Connecticut volunteers have helped shape the heart of America—one project, one club, one community at a time.

As we celebrate 250 years, may we remember this truth:

Volunteers don’t just serve America.
Volunteers build America.

GFWC Powhatan Junior Woman's Club is holding a fundraiser to raise funds so we can continue to do good work in our community. We are raffling a fabulous “Me Time” basket filled with self-care items.

Tickets 🎟️ are $5 a piece or 5 for $20. You can pay via PayPal using the QR code or use [email protected]. Make sure to include your phone number and email address so we can notify you when you win. 😉

If you don’t have PayPal, contact me for additional options such as Venmo, cash or check.

Drawing will be held on April 26, 2026.
