Powhatan Picnic In The Park

Good morning to all, I just wanted to send out a reminder that we have 5 spots open for the guided river clean up on May 7th at 1pm. We will be floating from the Park to Maidens landing 4.5 miles, it will take around 3 hours give or take how much trash we collect. We will provide the canoes and trash bags.

If attending please come prepared for a river float, you must have closed toed shoes and there is always a chance that you may get wet. If you are interested in attending the program please contact me and I will save you a seat on a canoe. Thanks for your support.

The Friends of Powhatan State Park on the Historic James invites you to join us for a potluck dinner and to learn more about our park and our Friends Group.

The evening is open to current Friends Group members and those interested in becoming members. Those attending will have the opportunity to meet current Friends and park staff
and to learn about:

Plans for the park as it enters phase 2 of development
Updates on road improvements to the intersection at Rt. 522
The mission of the Friends Group; identification of new officers
Opportunities and benefits for volunteers
Overview of the summer programs offered at the park
Thoughts about the potential impact of the closing at Beaumont

Potluck dinner begins at 6 PM

The meeting will be followed by an Astronomy program at the trail head parking area.
