On Wednesday November 12th, the Assembly Heath, Aging and Long Term Care committee is having a public hearing on AB 598, which would let hospitals pick a decision-maker if a patient becomes unable to make medical decisions so they can discharge them quickly and empty hospital beds. This bill is almost the same as a bill that failed last session and does not resolve any of the concerns raised by aging, disability, legal, and patient advocates last session

If you would like to attend the hearing it will be held at the WI State Capitol on November 12th at 10:01 am in 417 North (GAR Hall).

If you can't attend the hearing and this is an important issue to you, you can contact your state legislators. Find your legislators here: https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/My-Elected-Officials

You can see our full breakdown of the bill here: https://www3.thedatabank.com/dpg/579/pm.asp?ID=30057&Publication=Action+Alerts%3A+Take+Action+Now

🍎 No FoodShare Benefits This November
Here’s Where to Turn

Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, FoodShare (SNAP) benefits are temporarily halted for the month of November.
This means thousands of Wisconsin families may not receive their usual food assistance — right as the weather turns cold and budgets tighten.

But there is help available.
The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) provides free groceries through food pantries and community partners across the state. No ID or proof of income is required — just compassion and community.

🗺️ The map below shows which organization coordinates food assistance in each Wisconsin county.
📞 You can contact your local agency directly for pantry locations and hours.
🔗 Learn more: https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/nutrition/tefap/index.htm

If you’re able, now is the time to donate, volunteer, or check on your neighbors.
If you’re in need, please reach out, there is no shame in asking for help.
Together, we’ll make sure no one in Wisconsin goes hungry.
