The last two days the MacKenzie Center has been the host site for the Midwest Outdoor Heritage Education Expo, an event organized by the Outdoor Heritage Education Center. Thousands of students had the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of outdoor skills and learn more about the natural world!

Friends of MacKenzie members volunteered in a variety of roles throughout the two days!

The MacKenzie Center wildlife staff would like to thank everyone who has been donating enrichment items for the animals!!

Items they are looking for currently include:
-lotions/perfumes
-packing paper
-wrapping paper
-paper bags
-paper streamers
-corrugated cardboard

If you have any of these items you can drop them off anytime in the metal bin in front of the administration building.

Spread the word!! Maple Fest (and the Pancake Breakfast) at the MacKenzie Center is this Saturday!! (April 4th)

We would love to have the biggest turn out to celebrate everything maple and your help by sharing this post and telling your family and friends is how we can make that happen!

The main festival area runs from 9am-2pm with the pancake breakfast running from 8am-noon.

This sweet event will offer all things maple syrup, including various drop-in activities, guided tours of our sugarbush, demonstrations on how to tap a tree and interpretive talks about the historical methods and cultural importance of maple sugaring in Wisconsin. Gift shop, concessions, and local Wisconsin maple syrup will be available. There will be live music and activities for all ages!

This event is free and open to the public, and you do not need a state park sticker to attend.

The Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Friends of MacKenzie and Lake Wisconsin Lions Club will also take place during the festival. The breakfast will run from 8am-noon at the MacKenzie Center lodge. Adult tickets (13+) are $10 and kids (5-12) are $5. (under 5 is free). The breakfast includes pancakes with real maple syrup, eggs, sausage, and a drink! There will be a maximum of 900 tickets sold for the breakfast. We encourage you to plan ahead!

All food sales are CASH ONLY!

We are ONE WEEK away from the Friends of MacKenzie Maple Festival and Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 4th.

The main festival area runs from 9am-2pm with the pancake breakfast running from 8am-noon.

Come learn about wildlife at a drop in program at the MacKenzie Center Lodge tomorrow (Thursday, Feb 5) from 4-6pm! Come observe and identify animal tracks, furs, skulls, and replica s**t! There will be games and crafts to expand your tracking knowledge. All ages welcome! Please park in the Lodge lot, and a MacKenzie Educator will greet you inside the Lodge.
