Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes
Linwood Village Board
May 21st, 2026

The Clerk opened the meeting up and stated that the open meeting act is posted in the hall. Those answering the roll call were Will Eaton, Mike Croghan, Theresa Jakub and Waylon Price. Josh Slonecker was absent. Jakub made motion which was seconded by Price to have Will Eaton as Chairperson for meeting. All were in favor with none opposed. Price made motion which was seconded by Croghan to approve the minutes from the April 16th, 2026, meeting as read. All were in favor with none opposed. Jakub made motion to approve May 21st, treasurers report, Croghan seconded the motion, all were in favor with none opposed. Croghan made motion to pay the May bills: Kathy Eaton, clerk fees, $235.49; Will Eaton, 46.5 maintenance hours, $944.74; Jim Overton, mowing, $87.27; Edgewater Insurance, clerk bond, $100.00; Pekny’s and Associates, 1st quarter payroll tax preparation, $115.00; Brian Goff, 14 loads of dirt for Maple Street, $1400.00; Butler Public Power District, electricity, $443.24. Price seconded the motion. Price, Jakub, Croghan voted yes Eaton abstained from voting. No one was opposed. Eaton tried to talk with Roy Harris about Lots 15 and 16 of Block 6 but Harris acted like he did not want to talk what his intentions of those lots. Table actions until June 2026 meeting. Village Burn pile too big to have dumpsters come in for cleanup. Jakup made motion which was seconded by Croghan to approve the FEMA 5-year plan wrote up by JEO. All were in favor with none opposed. Park needs to have some work done on wooden play equipment. Nex meeting date will be June 18th, 2026. Price made motion to adjourn meeting seconded by Croghan, all were in favor of adjourned. Meeting adjourned.

Meeting Minutes
Linwood Village Board
April 16th, 2026

Josh Slonecker called the meeting to order at 7pm and stated that the open meeting act is posted in the hall. Will Eaton, Josh Slonecker, Theresa Jakub, Mike Croghan and Waylon Price were in attendance. Jakub made motion which was seconded by Price to approve the minutes from March 19, 2026, meeting as read. All were in favor with none opposed. Price made motion to accept the treasures report dated April 16, Jakub seconded the motion, all were in favor with none opposed. Croghan made motion which was seconded by Price to pay the April Bills that were received: Kathy Eaton, clerk fees, $235.49; Will Eaton, 35 maintenance hours, $678.77; United States Postal Service, 100 1st class stamps, $78.00; Butler Public Power District, electricity, $447.26. Croghan, Price, Slonecker, Jakub voted yes, Eaton abstained and no one opposed. Eaton made motion which was seconded by Slonecker to help with the cost of repairing the siren, with the conditions that all 4 listed entities also agree. All were in favor with none opposed. With the burn pile being so big no dumpsters will be brought in for a town cleanup. The board will reconsider in September if the burn pile is burned down. The owners of the property known as the old ZBJ hall have been working on cleaning it up. Eaton is to talk with Roy Harris on his intentions before the board acts on “Consideration of Nuisance/Dangerous Building.” Slonecker made motion which was seconded by Price to let the NRD use of the Village Hall for the water testing results. All were in favor with none opposed. Eaton made motion which was seconded by Croghan to send letters to a couple residents in which people of the Village has been complaining of dogs running loose. All were in favor with none opposed. Slonecker made motion to close 3rd Street from Pine Street to Ash Street to through traffic for an auction on May 30th, 2026. Intersection of Beech and 3rd will be open for north to south. All were in favor with none opposed. Next meeting date will be May 21st, 2026, at the Village Hall starting at 7 pm. Jakub made a motion which was seconded by Croghan to adjourn meeting all were in favor, meeting adjourned.

Monthly Minutes
March 19, 2026

Josh Slonecker called the meeting to order and stated that the open meetings act. Mike Croghan, Josh Slonecker, Will Eaton, Waylon Price and Theresa Jakub was present at the meeting. Croghan made motion which was seconded by Eaton to accept the minutes as read from the February 23rd meeting. All were in favor and none opposed. Price made motion to approve the treasures report dated February 23, Eaton seconded the motion all were in favor with none opposed. Croghan made motion to pay the following March bills: Kathy Eaton, March Clerk fees, $235.49; Will Eaton, 14 hours maintenance, $271.51; Waste Connections of Nebraska, 3 months of hall garbage, $86.13; Otte’s propane, hall propane, $335.00; Cappel Auto Parts, Inc., maintenance supplies, $67.34; Schuyler Coop, maintenance fuel, $433.88; Nebraska Department of Revenue, Lottery license 2 yr renewal, $100.00; Butler Public Power District, electricity, $460.46. Price seconded the motion. Slonecker, Jakub, Croghan, Price voted yes and Eaton abstained from voting motion passed. Slonecker received a letter from the Nebraska State Auditor that the Audit Waiver request has been approved. The letter also informed the board that the clerk did not do the 4 hours of continuing education, she only did 3 hours. Slonecker made motion which was seconded by Price to approve paint and any repair supplies for the new office building. All were in favor with none opposed. Dumpsters are to be put on the April agenda. Next meeting date is to be April 16th, at the village hall starting at 7 pm. Eaton made a motion which was seconded by Price to adjourn meeting, all were in favor, meeting adjourned.

Meeting minutes February 23rd, 2026

Clerk called the meeting to order and stated that the open meeting act is posted in hall. Theresa Jakub, Will Eaton, Mike Croghan and Waylon Price was present for roll call, Josh Slonecker was absent. Theresa Jakub made motion which was seconded by Waylon Price to have Will Eaton as chairperson for meeting. Jakub made motion which was seconded by Price to approve minutes from January 22, 2026, meeting as read. All were in favor with none opposed. Croghan made motion to accept the February 23rd treasurer report, seconded by Price. All were in favor, none opposed. Price made motion to pay the following February Bills: Kathy Eaton, clerk fees, $235.49; Will Eaton, 12 maintenance hours, $232.73; Edgewater Insurance, Insurance on 215 2nd street property, $263.00; IRS, 4th quarter payroll taxes 2025, $754.10; Pekny and Associates, 4th quarter payroll tax preparation and W-2, $175.00; BPPD, electricity, $514.52, Jakub seconded the motion all were in favor. The clerk informed the board that she did the Census Boundaries for the year 2026, this helps with all moneys the village is entitled to. Price made motion to approve Resolution 2-2026, seconded by Croghan, all were in favor, this is to withdraw from the NEBRASKA COOPERATIVE GOVERNMENT, that oversees the Keno in the Village of Linwood. Jakub made motion which was seconded by Price to approve Big Red Keno go into No Where Special after Lotto Nebraska pulls their equipment out of the bar. All were in favor with none opposed. It was brought up to the board that the County would like to remove the trees that are on the south side of 6th Street near the intersection with Maple Street. No action was taken because no costs were given by the county. Next meeting date is to be on March 19th, 2026, at the Village Hall starting at 7 pm. Price made motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Croghan all were in favor the meeting adjourned.
