We are very thankful to have been awarded this grant through State Farm. Grants like these are what allow small departments be able to improve our equipment for our community and the surrounding communities. Special thanks to Steve, Pam, and Michelle for presenting us with this check at our monthly meeting.

Last month, in honor of Fire Prevention Month, the State Farm Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program awarded $10,000 grants to 150 volunteer fire departments nationwide to support the purchase of essential safety equipment. Among the recipients was the Prague Volunteer Fire Department in Nebraska, which used its grant to purchase a pulse oximeter โ€” a vital tool for monitoring oxygen levels during emergency responses.

Congratulations to the Prague VFD for their dedication to community safety and for being selected as a grant recipient!

We are in a burn ban until further notice.

There are power lines and power poles down on County Road R between County Road 20 and County Road 21.

Never drive over or approach down power lines, always assume they are charged.

The fire station is open for anyone in the town of Prague that needs somewhere warm to go.

Please do NOT travel on the highways or gravel roads to get to Prague, as travel is not advised.

Be smart and be safe, we don't need anyone getting stranded, as we will not be able to come get you.

If you had a burn permit over the weekend, check your pile! Make sure it is out, not even smoking to avoid a rekindle in the high winds coming.

We are currently in a burn ban!

This afternoon, Prague Fire and Rescue, Wahoo Fire and Rescue, and the Saunders County Sheriffโ€™s Office responded to a male party that fell through the ice at Czechland Lake. Fortunately, they made a successful rescue and the male was transported via ambulance in reference to possible hypothermia.

This is a great reminder that with the warm temperatures, ice thicknesses are getting really thin. We would recommend not going out on the ice currently.
