This morning I submitted my resignation from the Prairie City City Council. I greatly appreciate the citizens of Prairie City electing me for this position and want you all to know that this was not a decision I made easily. I wish the best for the rest of the council and the residents of Prairie City.

The two new storm sirens are up and ready to test! A reminder these are still outdoor warning sirens so they are not meant to be heard inside the house, but they will help spread the warnings across the town!

Prairie City IA Community so you are aware, we will be testing the new outdoor warning systems this afternoon.

CIT Sewer Solutions continues their work to evaluate and do maintenance of the sanitary sewer lines again this fall as part of an on-going project within the city. Part of this work involves the use of high-pressure water sprayed to clean the areas where private sewer lines connect to the City’s sanitary sewer main, prior to doing the repairs.
This water pressure may cause increased pressure to private sewer lines and connected items including household drains, sinks, showers, tubs, and toilets. Residents are reminded as a precaution to keep toilet lids closed and cover drain openings during this cleaning and repair period. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this project. Direct any questions about the project to City Hall at 515-994-2649.
