Scammer Alert:

Remember, if something seems too good to be true and anytime someone asks for a form of payment to be any kind of gift card and often PayPal, it is most likely going to be a scam.

Most recently, a citizen was contacted about a property they believed to be for rent. The individual they were speaking to actually had no connection to the property and was attempting to get a deposit and document fees in the form of XBox, Target, and other gift cards. Fortunately, the citizen realized it was a fake deal and no loss occurred. If there is ever any question about a transaction, call law enforcement and we can help you determine if it is real or not before you lose any of your money or savings.

This time of year is when most vehicle vs. deer accidents occur so keep an extra eye out in the early mornings or late afternoons for them by the roadways. As much as we ask them to wear their vests so they can be seen, they don't listen and like to run out in front of you. And they can cause a lot of damage to your vehicles and injure you when the airbags go off. Keep an eye out for them and drive safe.

With school starting back there are some changes to the way parking will be enforced around the PCM Middle and Elementary school. No parking or drop offs/pick ups are to be done on the north side of the school where the busses load and unload. There have been too many instances of students running between cars and busses when they are dropped off in that area. Drop offs and pick-ups are to be done on the back side of the school in the large parking lot. We also encourage parents to use the community building parking lot and access the manned crosswalk across South State Street. There will also be (as a trial period) a loading and unloading zone on the north side by the playground so that students can use the sidewalk and not be able to run between cars and busses. There will be no long term parking allowed in this area. "

Today starts a two week enforcement period. School will be starting back up and Labor Day is approaching. Make sure to watch your speed, wear those seatbelts, and like always--Don't Drink and Drive!!

Hands-Free Driving Law - Effective 07/01/2025

Iowa's Hands-Free Driving Law goes into effect on July 1, 2025. The law bans the use of electronic devices when driving unless the device is used hands-free. PCSO is asking our communities to review the information below for helpful tips on staying hands-free behind the wheel.

A warning period will exist from July 1, 2025, until January 1, 2026, after which fines and citations will be issued.
