I have been doing research on assisting Single Mothers with returning to higher education. Money and childcare seem to be the main reason single mothers halt their pursuit of a college degree. The WREM Literacy Group, Inc. has a plan to help you. If you have aged out of foster care, WREM SPIL, www.wremliteracy.org/spil.html, has a plan to help you as well. If this is your DREAM, it is not an IMPOSSIBLE DREAM! The Obama Administration has made it possible for you to be assisted through grants and scholarships designed especially for you. Now, returning to school is a very REALISTIC goal. At WREM, we will arrange for tuition, housing, and childcare. Our programs especially target single mothers; however any mother --- single, working, etc --- can take advantage of this opportunity. Attendance in higher education or a vocational school is fundamental for obtaining a job that pays a sustainable income. WREM Literacy Group, Inc. wants you! Make the call to 936 857-9129 today! The result of your calling may change the rest of your life. Let tomorrow be the beginning of a prosperous future. Deborah Dennis will be waiting for your call. Blessings!

Introducing the YOUR DISCOVERY PLACE:

The Your Discovery Place is a 13,000 sq. ft. facility that will be a state-of-the-art learning and technology center located in Prairie View, TX, near the campus of the Prairie View A & M University. The center will focus on education, housing, and workforce development. The concept of the facility encompasses the entire family in the training process. While the parent is developed for the workforce, under-school-aged children will attend as well. A daycare will be available for children between the ages of 0 and 3. At 3, the children will enter into pre-school to prep for entry into kindergarten, where they will be taught to read and appropriate classroom behavior. Children attending public school will participate in the after-school program. The Your Discovery Place also provides for housing on site while the family participates in the transformation toward self-sufficiency. Housing has been incorporated to alleviate this stress as the family participates in the training process. The Your Discovery Place will house up to 50 families. Additionally, an early learning laboratory will be incorporated into the facility, where research will be conducted on the efficacy of teaching children to read at age 3 and monitoring their progress through age 5. Children will be taught according to the STOPLIGHT PHONICS in ACTION EARLY LEARNING Curriculum. This facility will have several trade schools --- such as cosmetology, barbering, construction technology, computer literacy classes, and other job related skills training. A resource center and adult literacy training laboratory is a major aspect of the building. To boost their success at independent living, participants must complete Financial Literacy and Housing Counseling training. The Your Discovery Place is an audacious goal, but nevertheless feasible, as a facility of its kind is needed as a model for combating the massive poverty that exists in Texas --- poverty that stems from poor literacy and the inappropriate availability of job related training. The Your Discovery Place will be the home of the WREM SPIL and YouthBuild Projects as well. WREM SPIL works with single mothers and young adults that age out of foster care to prepare them for earning a sustainable income, while nurturing them in the preparation for self-sufficient and independent living. YouthBuild trains young men in the art of vertical and horizontal construction. Under YouthBuild, students learn the process of residential construction from design to completion of the construction. Grant funding will be used to construct the multifamily housing complex, where the family will reside on the campus of the Your Discovery Place during the training process. Exclusive of WREM SPIL and YouthBuild, living on the site of the Your Discovery Place is voluntary.

“At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done. We will be judged by "I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was naked and you clothed me. I was homeless, and you took me in.” ― Mother Teresa

Amen!

Being a dad or a father means more than just wearing the title. It is better for children to be taught morals and values at home; otherwise, they will adhere to and mimic those learned and taught by the people in the environment, who have selfish motives. Young girls are less likely to seek approval and love from an abusive man, Dad, when they come of age loved and admired by YOU.

You see when God says, "He's got this!" You had better believe it. Today, I walked into my office, and there was a check waiting in support of my Family of 15 project. The check was from my friend and Sister in Christ, Stephanie Ferguson Hawthorne. Thank you so very much, Steph! We are almost done ... but there are still things that are needed. The joy in this whole endeavor is not that the WREM Literacy Group, Inc. is providing another home under its effort to provide decent and affordable housing for single mothers and families with children. The joy is in the faces of the children; in the patience of the Smiths; and in knowing these babies will have wealth passed to them through a home that has been built to stand the test of time ... for generations to come. Steph, I am so happy that you chose to be a part of this joy ... and even more that you are the special person that you are. For all of the other generous donors, Carolyn Hayden-Garner, Dorothy Weir, and Millie and Floyd Ferguson, your contribution was beneficial to the success of this project. I have attached a progress photo. Blessings!

The WREM Literacy Group, Inc. is a nonprofit that services the needs of the underserved living in low-income communities. Our services prepare our clients to earn a sustainable income and to purchase decent and affordable housing. Though our services are granted to all who qualifies, for the future of the child, preference is given to single mothers with financial challenges. Our mention of Single Moms relates to these mothers. In no way do we make the assumption that all single mothers fall into this category. If anyone has been offended by either our reference to or solicitation of single mothers, please accept our apology. Blessings!
