Happy Halloween!! You want everyone to have a safe time Trick or Treating in Prairie du Chien. Again, the hours for Trick or Treating tonight are 5pm - 8pm.

Each year the internet is ripe with fresh stories about contaminated or harmful candies being found. Please examine your child’s candy closely and report or discard anything remotely suspicious.

Are these your puppies? They were found near Webster Street and Marquette Road. Near Casey’s gas station. They have been given a clean kennel at Rivers and Bluffs Animal Shelter.

A few weeks ago our department assisted BA Kennedy School with critical incident drills. The kids did so great! We wanted to reward them with ice cream. Today we partnered with Dairy Queen in Prairie du Chien with giving all the kids a sweet treat. Thank you to BA Kennedy staff for being great partners. We appreciate the continued support from DQ.

It is Octoberfest in Prairie du Chien! The parade begins at 10:00am on Blackhawk Avenue. There are parking restrictions and intersections closed due to this permitted event. Please use caution and be patient. Thank you.

Today, several of our staff members spent time with staff from each of our public schools in our school district collaborating. Tabletop exercises were done to prepare, plan and problem solve different critical incidents that could occur within the district. Topics covered included weather events to active threats.

We would like to especially thank School Resource Officer, Max Erickson, for facilitating today’s discussions. We appreciate the working relationship we have with our school district. One of our takeaways from today is just how much the district staff cares about the children they educate each day.

Stop down to the 100 block of North Wacouta Avenue (outside of Jim’s Bar).

REMINDER: The Homecoming Parade will happen downtown this evening beginning at 6:00pm. The route will be starting on St. Feriole Island, moving East on Blackhawk Avenue and ending at People's State Bank. There will be parking restrictions on Blackhawk Avenue beginning at 4:00pm. Once the parade begins no traffic will be allows to travel on Blackhawk Avenue. Please be patient and aware of pedestrians. Go Blackhawks!

Over the last couple of days we have taken reports of residents falling victim to common scams. Please, PLEASE, do not buy gift cards to collect prizes. Even when those prizes sound really great, like, ONE MILLION DOLLARS from this "Clearing House" place. The last couple of days have been reminders of just how relentless scammers are and how easily convinced consumers are.

Again, stop buying gift cards to collect super secret prize money. Buy the gift cards for your children, grandchildren or other loved ones. Christmas is less than 100 days away...
