May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚, but mental health matters every single day, not just in May.

A reminder to everyone reading this: you never truly know what someone may be going through behind closed doors. Be kind, be patient, and check in on the people around you.

Mental health battles are often fought silently. If you’re struggling, know that asking for help is one of the strongest things you can do.

To anyone having a hard time right now, keep going. Your story matters, your life matters, and brighter days can still be ahead.

Let’s continue to support one another, break the stigma, and make mental health a conversation people never have to fear having.

If you or someone you know needs support, local resources are available:

• Crawford County Human Services Dept. – (608) 326-0248
• Crossing Rivers – (608) 357-2500
• Gundersen Behavioral Health – (608) 326-3380
• Mayo Psychiatry & Psychology Services – (608) 392-9555
• Su***de & Crisis Lifeline – 988

Happy Friday!

This morning we will feature 2 of our past equipment vans. Truck 41 (bottom photo) and Truck 44 (top). Truck 41 was placed at the Blackhawk Avenue station and Truck 44 was housed at the Praire St station. The dept did this to have turnout gear on both sides of the tracks in case of a train event where they couldn’t cross the tracks.

Our next feature is Engine 44. This truck was a 1965 International. The last known location (2016 area) of this truck was a chemical plant in Ankeny, IA where they used it for standby and cleaning of tanks at their facility. I Tim Deluhery Jr. went and visited the plant and saw the truck, it was neat to see a past piece of PdCFD history still in use.

Good morning!

Today’s past fire apparatus feature is Engine 42. A fun truck to drive with a standard transmission in it. This truck served the city for many years and when sold went to a Ford dealership near Janesville, WI. Michael Proksch thank you for the photo.

The next truck featured on past fire apparatus of PdC FD is Tanker 46. This unit was stored at Station 1 on Prairie St.
