❤️🇺🇸 THANK YOU. Truly, from the bottom of our hearts… thank you.
Yesterday’s Red, White & Boots Festival was something I don’t think I will ever forget.
There is absolutely no way to put on an event like this without an incredible amount of work behind the scenes. And when I look back at yesterday, what I will remember most isn’t the tents, the food, the music, the activities, or even how exhausted we all were by the end of the day. 😂
I’ll remember the people.
The people who showed up early to set up and stayed late to clean up. The people who cooked, baked, hauled tables, moved tents, served food, watched over activities, worked admissions, helped vendors, picked up trash, took pictures, handled the Jeep Show, checked bathrooms, answered questions, covered breaks, solved problems and jumped in wherever they were needed.
The people who donated supplies, food, equipment, prizes, auction items, money, time and talents.
The businesses, organizations, sponsors and community partners who believed in what we were trying to do and helped us make it happen.
And every single volunteer who gave up part—or all—of their Saturday to help Books for Boots.
Some of you have been beside us for a long time. Some of you volunteered with us for the very first time yesterday. Some of you simply saw something that needed to be done and did it without ever being asked.
Please know that I noticed. And I am so incredibly grateful.
And to EVERYONE who came out to attend our festival—THANK YOU! ❤️
Thank you for bringing your families. Thank you for shopping with our craft vendors. Thank you for participating in the Jeep Show, bidding in our silent auction, buying food, enjoying the activities, supporting our sponsors and simply spending your Saturday with us.
I hope your kids had fun. I hope your family made some good memories. I hope you learned a little more about Books for Boots and the military members and families we are so honored to serve.
This festival was our opportunity to celebrate something pretty incredible: in just over three years, our little grass roots nonprofit has provided more than 20,000 books, movies, puzzles, games, crafts, educational resources and other items to members of our military community.
But yesterday reminded me of something even bigger.
Books for Boots may have started with our family, but it doesn't belong to just us anymore.
It has become a COMMUNITY.
A community of people who give what they can. People who donate a book, bake a cookie, carry a table, volunteer for an hour, sponsor an event, fill a box, share a post or simply show up.
Every one of those things matters.
Yesterday took a village, and what an incredible village we have. ❤️
From our family and everyone at Books for Boots, thank you for believing in this mission, for supporting our military community, and for helping make the very first Red, White & Boots Festival a day we will always remember.
Thank you. 🇺🇸❤️🥾
