MADISON, Wis. — The National Guard celebrates its 382nd birthday today as a vibrant and unique organization of Citizen-Soldiers who shoulder dual missions as the combat reserve to the U.S. Army and Air Force and as the first military responder at home in times of local and state emergency.

The Kansas National Guard now pays for 100 percent of member's college tuition and fees. The money is allocated through the Kansas Board of Regents.

The National Guard is an excellent financial option for students — they can enlist while still attending school full time, receiving both tuition assistance and monthly payment for doing so.
