Storms can happen any time of year, and the best time to prepare is before severe weather is in the forecast. As we recognize National Preparedness Month, take a few minutes this week to build or refresh your emergency kit. Include essentials like bottled water, nonperishable food, flashlights, extra batteries, a first-aid kit, medications, phone chargers and important documents. via NRECA

Answer: A
Set up multifactor authentication (MFA) to add an extra layer of security to your accounts. MFA requires more than one way to prove the person logging in is really you.

In addition to entering your password, you might receive a code to your phone, or use an authenticator app. That way, even if someone steals your password, MFA helps keep your accounts protected.

Heat index is more than just the temperature on the thermostat—it's how hot it feels. High heat indices put extra strain on the grid. While our power from Kansas Electric Power Cooperative (KEPCo) is reliable even in extreme heat, you can do your part at home to help us keep the power flowing:

🌡️ Use ceiling fans.
🌡️ Run major appliances when temperatures cool down.

Unplug the “energy vampires.”

Phone chargers, gaming consoles, coffee makers and TVs can still use electricity even when turned off. Plug electronics into a power strip so you can switch everything off at once when not in use.

It’s quick, affordable and a surprisingly effective way to cut unnecessary energy use. Tiny habit. Real savings.
