FASNY applauds the New York State Legislature for passing the volunteer firefighter tax credit bill in both houses.

This important legislation provides meaningful relief to the 80,000 volunteer firefighters across New York and helps offset rising costs such as fuel, training, and equipment.
This is a major step forward in supporting volunteer firefighters and strengthening the future of New York’s volunteer fire service as part of FASNY’s 14 Point Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment and Retention Plan.

The bill is now on its way to Kathy Hochul’s desk. We encourage her to sign it into law.

Today, we pause as a community and as a fire service family to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Memorial Day is more than a day of reflection—it is a solemn reminder of the courage, dedication, and selflessness demonstrated by those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy each day. Their commitment to something greater than themselves continues to inspire us in our own mission of service.

As firefighters, we understand the meaning of duty, sacrifice, and standing ready when called. We recognize and deeply respect those who answered their nation’s call and never returned home.

We extend our gratitude to the families who carry the memory of their loved ones and whose strength endures beyond their loss.

Today, we remember. We honor. We will never forget.

From all of us at PHC, may we carry forward their legacy with gratitude, service, and remembrance.
