Today commissioners court approved a 90 day burn ban go in effect today.

If you need to do a safe a control burn, please contact me at 3612274812 so the necessary paperwork can be filled out and our community, land, and property remains safe. 

If you see smoke, please call it in. Our KBDI are in the 600’s and we are in extreme drought like conditions.

⚠️ COMMUNITY & PARENT ALERT – “CAT IN THE HAT” SOCIAL MEDIA TREND

The Premont Police Department is aware of the viral “Cat in the Hat” social media trend involving threatening or frightening messages directed toward schools, students, and communities.

There was a meeting between PISD leadership and Premont PD this morning.

We want to remind parents and students that using a social media trend, fake account, AI-generated content, or “prank” to make or communicate a threat is not a joke. Threats involving a school, student, staff member, or other person will be taken seriously and investigated.

Depending on the circumstances, these actions may result in school disciplinary action and criminal charges, including offenses such as Terroristic Threat or False Alarm or Report under Texas law.

Parents, please speak with your children about responsible social media use. Students should never share, create, or repost threatening content and should immediately report concerning messages to a parent, school official, or law enforcement.

Think before you post. A few seconds online can have serious consequences.

Good afternoon!

The Premont Police Department hosted an ALERRT Level 1 (16 hrs) training for our officers and local DPS Troopers at our Premont High School.

Building relationships and tactical competency between responding agencies has always been a priority and we are proud of the result!

A big thank you to Alice PD, Jim Wells County SO, and Duval SO for providing amazing instructors (and our own PPD Chief Garcia also instructing) making this training a success. Also thank you to Daniel Fuentes from CPR + for his assistance during the hands on medical portion of the training.

As always, thank you to our amazing leadership at Premont ISD for allowing us to use the school and for always investing in the safety of our kids. We appreciate you!

Great work Sgt. Benavidez and Officer Lopez on completing the ALERRT FRM (First Responder Medical) course in Kenedy County Sheriff's Office last week!

It remains a top priority of the Premont Police Department that we provide the best prehospital trauma care possible during a crisis or emergency. An ambulance may be on the way, but your PPD officers are on scene and need to have the knowledge and tools to save lives.

A big congratulations to Premont Police Officer Alonzo for completing the Basic SWAT Course last week. A challenging 60 hour course, it tests and solidifies an officers tactical competence and high stress teamwork during crisis.
