It’s ok not to be ok.

Please reach out if you need to talk through your feelings.

During this incredibly difficult time, our hearts are with the family, friends, classmates, and everyone affected by the loss of one of our beloved student.
As a Premont ISD family, we grieve together, support one another, and stand united in love and compassion.
Please know that counseling services and support will be available for our students, staff, and families.
PISD’s Counseling & Family Support Team will be available Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM–3:30 PM at the Premont Collegiate Library. United Connection Counseling will also be available tomorrow, Tuesday, from 9:30 AM–2:30 PM.
No one should go through this alone. It’s okay to not be okay. Let us continue to lean on one another, lift each other up, and keep our Premont ISD family close in prayer and support during this time.

“That Nation which respects and honors its dead, shall ever be respected and honored itself.”
– Brevet Lieut.-Col. Edmund B. Whitman, 1868

Memorial Day, a federal holiday held the last Monday in May, is the nation's foremost annual day to mourn and honor its deceased service men and women.

Originally called Decoration Day, it was formalized by a "Memorial Day Order" issued by Grand Army of the Republic Commander-in-Chief John A. Logan in 1868.

The modern proclamation calls on Americans "to observe Memorial Day by praying, according to their individual religious faith, for permanent peace."

We reverently observe this day to remember our fallen servicemen and servicewomen.

Active duty service members and veterans do not want to hear the beautiful and kind words, “Thank you for your service “.

On Memorial Day, we all remember our friends and family that gave their lives. We look to heaven and thank them for their sacrifice.

Good afternoon!

As our kids get out of school and daily life slows down, it is important we keep them safe from online predators.

Sit down with your kids and talk to them about how these cell phone apps can be used maliciously. Let’s keep them safe!

As we wrap up National Police Memorial Week I would like to personally thank the brave men and women who serve our communities selflessly and bravely every single day.

I started my law enforcement career 30 years ago and it has had both high and low points. In those 30 years, I have lost friends who were murdered in the line of duty, police stress related su***de, and in terrible accidents. It is never easy, and it makes us all hold the people we love a little bit closer. The weeks following any First Responder funeral are hard, and many great men and women turn in the badge as a result.

This week we came very close to losing two Premont Police Department reserve officers in terrible vehicle accidents while they were conducting traffic control and police escorts. Very close.

One officer is at home recovering after being hit by a drunk driver. His vehicle was completely destroyed. The second officer was involved in a police motorcycle accident. He bravely fought and made it through his third major surgery yesterday and is finally recovering at home with his family. You both remain in our prayers, and we have faith you will make a full recovery!

Thank you again to our police officers. I am honored and humbled to serve as your Chief, and I will continue to do the best that I can to ensure you have everything you need to make it home to your loved ones.

God bless our Law Enforcement and may God bless America.

Chief R. Garcia

Good afternoon,

Each May, our nation comes together to honor the courage, sacrifice and dedication of law enforcement officers. Originally established by presidential proclamation President John F. Kennedy in 1962, National Police Week includes Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15th and a week of observances recognizing officers who given their lives in the line of duty, as well as those who continue to serve and protect our communities with dedication and courage.

Events are centered in Washington, D.C. and include the Candlelight Vigil hosted by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S) National Survivors Conference and the cornerstone of the week, the Fraternal Order of Police National Peace Officers Memorial Service on May 15th at the West Front of the United States Capitol.

National Police week is both a time of solemn remembrance and a celebration of the men and women who serve with integrity and bravery every day. It reminds us that behind every badge is a story of service, sacrifice and family.

Thank you to all our dedicated officers, we are proud of you!

The Premont Police Department has begun a new initiative to recognize some of our amazing students at PISD. We will recognize one student from our district and highlight them weekly. They will receive a framed certificate, $25 gift card and some goodies.

Premont PD Student of the Week-

PISD Junior Abbie Salinas

Abbie is ranked first in her class and is kind, respectful, and very helpful towards her fellow classmates and teachers. She is also an all around musician!

Keep up the great work Abbie!!

Please don’t forget, we would like our teachers and administrators to nominate a student that has exemplified our Premont Pride for this weekly award. Please contact Officer Scaggs or Chief Garcia.

Thank you Premont ISD and Coach Flores for inviting Chief Garcia and SRO Scaggs to come out and familiarize two classes of students with the Stop The Bleed course.

The hands on practice and application of these simple skills better prepare them and build their confidence. Medical emergencies can happen anytime, and these young men and women have a little more information to help them in crisis.

They did a fantastic job!
