The Prescott Valley Police Department, with the support of the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS), reminds motorists that speeding is a leading factor in serious and fatal traffic collisions.
Speeding is more than driving over the posted limit. Drivers must also travel at a speed that is safe for current traffic, weather, road, and visibility conditions.

As speed increases, so does stopping distance, reaction time decreases, and collisions become more severe. What may seem like “just a few miles over” can mean the difference between avoiding a collision and not having enough time to react.

Drivers are encouraged to:
- Obey posted speed limits.
- Adjust speed for road and weather conditions.
- Maintain a safe following distance.
- Slow down around pedestrians, bicyclists, construction, and heavy traffic.
- Allow extra time for trips rather than speeding.

A few minutes saved is never worth a life. Slow down. Stay alert. Arrive safely.

The Prescott Valley Police Department (PVPD) Police Community Services Unit offers many free programs to build relationships with residents, improve quality of life, and get to know our community.

We offer several crime prevention programs such as free home and business security assessments, fraud/scam presentations, Dog Walker Watch, Neighborhood Watch, and Virtual Block Watch. While several of these classes happen at the police station, we can come to you and present directly to various community groups on request.

We also offer several community engagement events to interact with citizens of all ages. These programs include Coffee with a Cop, Cops & Kids, Teen Table, Youth Police Academy, Citizens Academy, and Badges & Bobbers.

Did you know that the Prescott Valley Police Department offers free Fraud & Scam Presentations to the community? These informative presentations cover fraud detection, common scams and schemes, and practical strategies to protect yourself.

Classes are held in person and will be hosted by the Police Community Services Specialists (PCSS) at the police department or at community centers, churches, HOAs, or other local gathering spaces.

The Prescott Valley Police Department will have a Car Seat Check TOMORROW, Saturday, August 22, from 8-11am, at Park Collective (7450 E Pav Way).

A car seat check event allows parents and guardians to ensure their car seats are properly installed and not damaged or expired. Participants will drive through and have their child’s car seat or booster seat inspected by two trained car seat technicians to ensure proper installation. Staff will replace car seats that are expired or broken. Each car seat check takes 20-30 minutes.

The Prescott Valley Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a runaway juvenile, Jonathan S. He was last seen on Monday, August 17, 2026, around 9:30pm. He is described as a 16-year-old male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black pants.

The Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) and the Prescott Valley Police Department (PVPD) responded Sunday night after a vehicle fire near E. Addis Avenue and Cattletrack spread into the surrounding brush.

The burning vehicle was driven across a field, igniting brush in several locations before coming to a stop. Before firefighters arrived, PVPD officers and nearby residents used fire extinguishers and garden hoses to contain or extinguish some of the fires.

CAFMA crews simultaneously worked to extricate and provide medical care to the driver while extinguishing the vehicle and remaining brush fires. The driver was transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center East, later released from the hospital, and booked into the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Jail on DUI charges.

CAFMA and PVPD thank the community members who helped contain the fires and prevent them from spreading.

Update (8/19/26): A third victim from the fatal crash on August 13, 2026, passed away from the injuries they sustained in the crash. We extend our deepest sympathies to their family and loved ones.

On August 13, 2026, Prescott Valley Police responded to a serious head-on collision at the intersection of State Route 69 and Enterprise Parkway in Prescott Valley.

Witnesses stated they saw a truck cross the median barrier and collide head-on with another vehicle. The driver of the truck was flown to a nearby hospital, along with several passengers from both vehicles. Unfortunately, the other driver and a passenger died from their injuries.

The road was temporarily closed while officers conducted their investigation and has since been reopened. The cause surrounding the collision remains under investigation.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of those involved in this tragic collision. The Prescott Valley Police Department recognizes the profound impact a tragedy of this nature can have on families, friends, first responders, and the entire community. We remind all motorists to remain attentive, obey traffic laws, and make safe driving a priority every time they are behind the wheel.

*** UPDATE: The roadway is now open in both directions. ***

First responders are on scene for a serious 2-car collision at westbound Hwy. 69 and Enterprise Parkway. The entire roadway is currently closed down so helicopters can be landed. Please avoid the area for the immediate future.
