The Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) formed as the first Fire Authority in the State of Arizona through an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Central Yavapai and Chino Valley Fire Districts. CAFMA's social media accounts will be used to provide relevant and timely updates for community members, including posts about fire safety, emergency incidents, news, events, job opening

s, and what it's like to work for CAFMA and serve our communities. We encourage questions, comments, and concerns, but please note that in order to manage staff resources, and your tax dollars, we do not monitor social media 24/7. We expect those interacting with our accounts to maintain a reasonable degree of civility. All posts and comments on CAFMA's social media pages are considered public records. BASIC INFO:

CAFMA recently hosted an airway lab, offering education and hands-on training focused on keeping a patient’s airway open and free of obstructions so they can breathe. Regional fire and EMS agencies joined alongside community partners for advanced techniques and real-world scenarios, building skills for the calls they may face.

Congratulations to CAFMA’s four newest Technical Rescue Technicians!

After completing a grueling 200-hour training program, they’ve earned their Technical Rescue Technician certification and will join the Prescott Area Regional Response Team, a CAFMA and Prescott Fire Department partnership. The course included advanced technical rescue training and realistic scenarios designed to prepare them for complex, high-risk emergencies.

Quick action by CAFMA firefighters led to the rapid knockdown and extinguishment of a structure fire near E. Agua Fria Ranch Road and E. Winding View Drive on Friday, May 29, 2026.

Upon arrival, crews found the fire had extended into the surrounding wildland, but it was quickly contained before it could spread further. Due to limited access, firefighters established a nursing operation utilizing on-scene engines and water tenders to maintain a continuous water supply. No injuries were reported.

CAFMA and Prescott Fire Department are beginning development of a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) to reduce wildfire risk and strengthen safety across our community.

Our region’s Wildfire Hazard Potential ranks higher than 97% of communities nationwide, placing residents, infrastructure, and first responders at elevated risk.

We’re asking community members to get involved — you’ll play a critical role in shaping how we prepare for and respond to wildfire threats!

Fill out our CWPP questionnaire here and share with friends and neighbors: https://bit.ly/4vkPyVT
