Dementia changes memory. It does not erase the need for company, purpose, or a good laugh.

The win is not recreating the past. It is a smile, a familiar song, or folding towels side by side.
A few things that still work on hard days:

Meet them in their reality instead of correcting it
Choose activities that use ability, not memory
Play songs from their teens and early adulthood
Give a small job: stir, set napkins, water a plant
Shorten the plan when energy drops
