Free tax preparation assistance is available for individuals and families in 2026 at the Prescott/Nevada County Library.

This service applies to preparing your 2025 tax returns through the Central Arkansas Development Council.
IRS-certified volunteers will be on-site to prepare and e-file your returns.

Required Items to Bring:
• Valid photo ID.
• Social Security cards for everyone listed on the return.
• Income forms (W-2, 1099, etc.) and Marketplace insurance forms (1095-A).
• A copy of last year’s tax return.
• A check for routing and account numbers to receive refunds via direct deposit.

2026 Service Schedule (No appointment necessary – drop off and pick up):
• Tuesdays & Wednesdays (11:00 AM – 4:00 PM):
February: 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25
March: 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, 31
April: 7, 8, 14

• Thursdays (1:00 PM – 6:00 PM):
February: 5, 12, 19, 26
March: 5, 12, 19, 26
April: 2, 9

• Saturdays (11:00 AM – 4:00 PM):
March 7

❄️ IMPORTANT UPDATE: TAX PREP DELAY ❄️

Due to the winter weather storm, the tax preparation service at the Prescott Nevada County Library will be delayed. 🌨️

We are currently awaiting the arrival of necessary tax paperwork and equipment to begin serving you. We understand this is a busy time of year, and we appreciate your patience as we wait for conditions to improve and deliveries to arrive.

We will post an update here as soon as we are ready to start our services!

NOTICE: LIBRARY CLOSURE

The Prescott/Nevada County Library will be closed on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, due to the impact of the ongoing winter storm.

Hazardous road conditions and winter precipitation have affected the region, prompting closures for the safety of our patrons and staff.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as they become available. Reopening decisions are made based on guidance from our Elected Authorities. Please stay tuned to our social media pages or website for the latest information on when we will resume regular hours.

In the meantime, you can still access our digital resources, including eBooks and audiobooks, through the Libby app.

The library was buzzing with excitement this morning as kids and parents flocked to the Wild Things ZOOFARI event! Dillion, the awesome animal handler, wowed the crowd with cool facts about each of his furry (and not-so-furry) friends. At the end, everyone who wanted got a chance to pet the animals—talk about a wild time! Dillion brought along some super fun creatures like a Pikachu (yes, really!), a fluffy chinchilla, and an adorable joey. Big shoutout to the amazing library crew, Emma and Janiya, for handing out animal cookies and helping the kiddos meet the stars of the show on their way out!

Big Poppa Bubble brought the fun to Prescott! 🫧🎉
As part of the library’s Color Our World Summer Reading Program, we gathered at the City Park Pavilion for a bubble-filled day of joy.

From giant bubbles to tiny bubbles, and thousands in between — the air was full of magic! Kids (and grown-ups!) used their best bubble poppers (aka 10 fingers!) to pop as many as they could.
