Vehicle Crash Closes Willow Creek Road

On Thursday September 2, 2021 at around 12:18 pm, officers responded to a two vehicle head on collision, with injuries, that occurred just south of James Lane on Willow Creek Road.

The driver of a 1999 Chevrolet pickup, a 28 year old man out of Mesa AZ, was traveling northbound and was witnessed passing another vehicle also heading northbound. According to witnesses that driver moved into the south bound lane and collided head on with a 2021 Nissan sport utility vehicle which was traveling southbound. That vehicle was driven by a 24 year old female resident of Prescott, AZ.

Upon arrival to the scene both occupants were trapped in their vehicles and were extricated by Prescott Fire Department personnel. The driver of the first vehicle was flown from the scene to a valley area hospital for treatment for significant injuries. The driver of the Nissan was ground transported to a local hospital where she was later flown by helicopter to another valley area hospital for treatment of significant injuries. Their conditions are stable at this time.

Willow Creek Road between State Route 89 and Pioneer Parkway was completely closed down for about two hours while emergency crews were on scene. . This collision is still under investigation but we do not believe that impairment was a factor in this case.

Indecent Exposure Suspect Wanted

The Prescott Police Department has actively been investigating approximately seven different indecent exposure and public sexual indecency cases within the last six months along the Willow Lake Trail system (Willow Lake/Willow Creek Road). One of the reported incidents involved a minor child who witnessed an incident that rises to the level of felony charges.

A taskforce of Detectives and Community Services Officers from the Prescott Police Department have conducted extensive follow up and we have identified a potential person of interest in this case based on investigative work on the trails where this suspect has been observed.

On August 20, 2021 a subject engaged in the same behavior as earlier reported and fled on foot from the trail system near Willow Lake Road. Surveillance footage captured an image of the suspect on the trail system and we need the public’s assistance in identifying the person in the picture below. The male in the photographs matches the description provided by victims in the prior incidents. He has been described as a white male, 5’-08” to 5’10”, in his mid-30’s, average build, short brown hair and possibly a short beard.

We are asking for help from our community to identify this subject so that we can stop him from victimizing someone else. If you recognize the subject in the photographs we ask that you please contact Detective Jeremy Brazell at (928) 777-1988, Dispatch at (928) 445-3131, Yavapai Silent Witness at (800) 932-3232 or go on line to http://yavapaisw.com. Yavapai Silent Witness is offering up to $500 for information leading to the arrest of this individual. We don’t need your name but we do need your information.

Prescott Police Seek the Public’s Help to Identify Suspects of Animal Cruelty

The Prescott Police Department is investigating a felony animal cruelty case that occurred during the early morning hours of July 26, 2021 on the campus of Taylor Hicks Elementary School, 1845 Campbell Avenue.

A Prescott Animal Control Supervisor responded later that morning and discovered two kittens were deceased. Both kittens were located in the parking lot of the baseball fields and appeared to have sustained blunt force trauma.

Two other kittens were found alive but were severely dehydrated, thin, and covered in urine and f***s. The two surviving kittens were transported to a local animal hospital and received medical treatment.

Through investigation, it was learned that three, possibly four males were making noise in the parking lot just adjacent to the baseball fields on the north end of the campus, just after midnight.

Video surveillance was obtained from the school. While the video still images are of poor quality, it appears the suspects are male juveniles. The juveniles appear to be white, thin to medium build, with dark hair. Two of the suspects appear to be wearing white or light-colored Nike athletic shoes. Another male subject appears to be wearing dark-colored low-cut Nike shoes. It is believed the juveniles saw the cameras while climbing on the roof of the school and attempted to conceal their faces.

The Prescott Police Department encourages anyone with knowledge of these individuals or incident to contact Shannon Gray, Animal Control Supervisor at (928) 777-1982, or Yavapai Silent Witness at (800) 932-3232.

NEW CHIEF OF POLICE

We are excited to announce that on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, our new Chief of Police was sworn in. We want to congratulate Chief Amy Bonney on her new appointment!

Chief Bonney has served as the interim chief since February. She has served with the Prescott Police Department for 23 years. Chief Bonney began her career as a patrol officer and has held many positions while rising through the ranks until her promotion to Deputy Chief in 2016. During her career, Chief Bonney was awarded the Medal of Valor, Sworn Officer of the Year, Supervisor of the Year, and multiple other departmental and community awards.

This past week, over a 100 people turned out at City Hall to celebrate the promotion of Chief Bonney. She was chosen as the new Police Chief after a nationwide search following the retirement of Chief Debora Black.

As Chief Bonney addressed the audience, she turned to address the men and women of the Prescott Police Department. She said, “I could not be more proud to serve as your police chief. Wearing the same uniform as you and working alongside you all has been the greatest privilege of my life.”

We love our law enforcement...All of them!
Was going on to 89 from Willow lake when someone ignored the “yield” sign forcing us to stop abruptly. Luckily there was a ppd officer in the other lane to pull over the car, Instant Karma! I have had way too many near misses on this particular roundabout. Thanks ppd!
If you are a law enforcement officer in these difficult times and need a break, you can come park outside my home. If you are thirsty, I will bring you a drink. If you are hungry, I will fix you food. If you are hot, I will invite you inside to cool off. If you need backup, I will stand with you. If you need to talk, I will listen. If you need to pray, I will pray with you & for you. I only ask that you don't lose faith in Americans. We are NOT all against you. Your lives matter, as do ours. Take off your sunglasses and see the good people that are here for you. God Bless you, your family and America 🇺🇸 I copied this in support of our good men and women in blue.
I live in Prescott, AZ. If you are a law enforcement officer and need a break, you can come park outside my home. If you are thirsty I will bring you a drink. If you are hungry I will fix you food. If you are hot I will invite you inside to cool off. If you need additional ammo just ask. If you need backup, I will stand with you. If you need to cry, I will hug you and let you. If you need to talk I will listen. If you need to pray, I will kneel with you. If you are wrong, I will tell you. If you are right I will support you. I only ask that you don't lose faith in Americans. We are NOT all against you. Our lives matter, as do yours. Take off your sunglasses and see the good people that are here for you. Albeit, we are not as loud and obnoxious as these whiny media seekers, we are strong and waiting to follow your lead. God Bless you and your family.
