Just some Sunday “shelfies” here at the Book Garden on Gannon-Little Free Library #134292! New books are from swaps with some local LFLs, plus some purchases and giveaways from the terrific authors and community partners who participated in the Talbot County Free Library’s 11th Annual Chesapeake Children’s Book Festival. I normally attend it alone and spend all my time focused on (and buying!) books at the Festival, but this year was a little different. I’ve recently become affiliated with Talbot Mentors and Shore Lit and was matched with a mentee for Shore Lit’s Read Aloud program. My mentee and I visited all the stations at the Festival, as well as the author tables at the Festival, which made me slow down and redirect my attention, seeing it through the eyes of a child rather than as a LFL steward on a buying mission. I know I missed purchasing some great books for my LFL this time but I think the experience my mentee had outweighs it. ❤️📚❤️

The sunshine is back and the weather is LOVELY!

Despite the recent weather, or maybe because of it, we needed to do some restocking here at the Book Garden on Gannon, a task that is extra enjoyable when the weather is this sublime! We added books for readers of all ages, a variety of bookmarks, and a very wise owl/reading buddy who appears to be celebrating graduation season! 🎓

We are down to just two seed packets from the Caroline County Garden Club-Maryland, but there is more fun to be had with the club, check out the flyer on the front of the Book Garden on Gannon, inviting you to a Summer Garden Party on June 17th, a collaboration with Smokey Cat Lavender Farm, Vintage Family Farms and the garden club. 💜🐈‍⬛🌼🐈‍⬛💜

This Memorial Day Monday has been a bit dreary, as has the whole weekend, but we are grateful for the much-needed rain. Passing through Denton earlier, we made exchanges with two of the town’s most recent Little Free Libraries to open, the Denton Lions Club Little Free Library #224640 and the Mayor Carol Stockley Fourth Street Park Little Free Library #174714. (Mr. Book Garden on Gannon was quite impressed with the craftsmanship of the Lions Club LFL-nice job!)

Despite the weather we have had visitors at our own Little Free Library, but we still have some seeds left, and as always, plenty of books, so come pay us a visit, we are located on Gannon Drive, a short drive from Preston, just off of Blades Road and down the road from the village of Choptank.

Happy National Little Free Library Day! (And Little Free Library Week, which starts today, May 17th!)

It was a beautiful weekend and we took advantage of the weather to wander both near and far (sort of) and we came home with some more treasures to share here at the Book Garden on Gannon, just in time for National Little Free Library Day!

During the day Saturday we attended a tour of native gardens in the town of Easton, sponsored by Adkins Arboretum, where in addition to seeing some amazing gardens, got to meet a representative from Wild Ones Delmarva Chapter. Look for material from both organizations in our LFL.

Saturday evening took us to the charming town of Vienna to attend an outdoor concert on the banks of the Nanticoke River. It gave us an opportunity to revisit the Tide and Tome Little Free Library on Water Street, a beautiful blue library located in the front yard of a beautiful blue historic home.

Today we traveled to the top of the Chesapeake Bay to visit another charming waterfront town, Havre de Grace, to take part in their 20th Annual Secret Garden Tour of Havre de Grace. The gardens were gorgeous, and at one of them we found the author of an equally gorgeous book on quilts. Needless to say, a book was purchased!

While in town we took a tour of Concord Point Lighthouse and Keeper’s House Museum. All the docents were welcoming and enthusistic about their work, especially the 91 year old gentlemen who directed us up to the top of the lighthouse! What a view! And those steps, talk about newfound respect for lighthouse keepers, especially those lady lighthouse keepers who went up and down the stairs in long skirts! We picked up a cute kids’ book based on Havre de Grace at the museum’s gift shop

And last, but never least, we exchanged books with three Little Free Libraries in the town. There are more LFLs located in Havre de Grace, we will seek them out on our next visit.

Here’s a post on this beautiful day at the Book Garden on Gannon-Little Free Library #134292!

We have FREE seeds out today, courtesy of the Caroline County Garden Club-Maryland, come grab a pack! We also have new books, a puzzle, and a cool decorated rock, all finds that we found at Little Free Libraries during a recent trip to Deep Creek Lake. We are tagging Frederick Rocks in this post so they can see where this rock has landed. As with our books, any decorated rocks that you see around our library are yours for the taking, feel free to rehome them, and share their journey if they have a tag!

It’s WORLD BOOK DAY so we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than by giving the Book Garden on Gannon-Little Free Library #134292 a spring cleaning and stocking it with some new books picked up from recent visits to library book sales and other Little Free Libraries!

Stocked up with twenty two books for $19 at the Friends of the Talbot County Free Library book sale today. My haul includes some of my childhood favorites, Judy Blume books. I didn’t mean to pick up two copies of Deenie, I’ll have to drop the extra one in another LFL. The sale continues tomorrow, Saturday, March 28th, so there’s still time to find your own favorites.

We know it doesn’t matter what we say to snow, it’s going to do what it’s going to do, so after you make a bread/milk/toilet paper run to the store don’t forget to stop by the Book Garden on Gannon-Little Free Library #134292 to find a new-to-you book to read. We have books for readers of all ages to help keep you occupied if you find yourself snowed in. A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Last week we saw a post from the Mayor Caroline Cline Memorial Free Little Library in nearby East New Market, that they had sustained some damage to their Little Free Library #52283 and was looking for some help to get their door back on the library. Mr. Book Garden on Gannon answered the call, did the repairs, and rehung the door this morning. Be sure to check out their LFL, located at the town’s Friendship Park, then buzz on over to our LFL here on Gannon Drive, outside of Preston, they are a short drive from one another. ♥️📚♥️
