Fillmore County Public Health is offering two free CARFiT events for adult drivers to improve how the fit in their vehicle so they can drive comfortably, safely, and longer. CARFiT appointments are available on September 24 at the City of Lanesboro Parking Lot and on September 29 at the Harmony Library. The Ted Foss Move Over Law is named after Minnesota State Patrol Trooper Ted Foss. Foss was conducting a traffic stop on the shoulder of Interstate 90, August 31, 2000, when he was hit and killed by a passing vehicle. Trooper Foss's story shows why it is important to move over for vehicles. The move over law now applies to any vehicle on the side of the road using hazard lights. Fillmore County WIC is partnering with Olmsted County WIC Peer Breastfeeding Services. WIC clients who are within two weeks of their due date or are breastfeeding after delivery and would like peer support may be referred to the program! There are several peers available to work with. Youth and their families are welcome to attend the free back-to-school supply event at the Fillmore County Office Building – Lower Level Room 108 located at 902 Houston Street NW, Preston, MN. We are open Thursday, August 27 from 3 PM to 7 PM and Friday, August 28 from 9 AM to 1 PM. Please come and fill up a backpack!

Back-To-School supply shopping opportunities available on Thursday, August 27, 2026 (3 PM to 7 PM) Friday, August 28, 2026 (9 AM to 1 PM) at the Fillmore County Office Building Lower-Level Room 108, 902 Houston Street NW, Preston, MN 55965. These free events provide families of children in grades K-12 with the opportunity to receive some of the school supplies their children may need. We ask that families participate in one event time so that we can share the goodness with more families.
