DARE Graduation Day! On May 18th, we gathered at Rushford Peterson Middle School to celebrate the 267 students in our 35th graduating class.

This year's graduates represent 6th graders from Chatfield, Fillmore Central, Kingsland, Lanesboro, Mabel-Canton, and Rushford Peterson.

Thank you to all the students, staff, and most importantly, our dedicated instructors, Deputies Logan Brand and Jackson Rindels.

We would also like to thank Scheels of Rochester for donating 6 gift cards for the DARE essay winners.

The DARE program is funded through donations from citizens and businesses throughout Fillmore County. If you wish to donate to the program, please send a check to the Fillmore County Sheriff's Office payable to the Fillmore County DARE Program.

According to Fillmore County Sheriff John DeGeorge,

On Wednesday, April 22nd, the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office and Mower County Sheriff's Office conducted a joint operation, executing a search warrant at the residence of Jason Eli Moore at 418 Line St N, Wykoff, MN. During the search, investigators seized approximately 376 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $10,000, along with shotgun ammunition and $1,200 in cash.
The warrant stemmed from Moore’s arrest by the Mower County Sheriff's Office between the evening of Monday, April 20th, and the early morning of Tuesday, April 21st. Moore is currently held in the Mower County Jail and has been charged by criminal complaint in Fillmore County court with 1st degree possession of methamphetamine, possession of ammunition with a conviction of a crime of violence, and receiving stolen property. The Austin Police Department and the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crime Enforcement Team assisted in the investigation.

Severe Weather Awareness Week!

Statewide tornado drills will take place at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Outdoor Warning Sirens will sound around these times.

This is a good opportunity to exercise your shelter plan. Please note, the outdoor warning sirens are intended to warn those that are outside, so they can seek shelter and more information on current weather conditions.

We would like to congratulate newly appointed Chatfield Police Chief Scott Keigley! Chief Keigley was a Fillmore County Patrol Sergeant when the City of Chatfield selected him to serve as their next Chief. We were sad to see him go, but are honored that a member of our command staff was chosen to lead a police department in Fillmore County. Chief Keigley will serve the citizens of Chatfield with the same professionalism and integrity that he displayed with the FCSO. Congratulations to Chief Keigley, and the citizens of Chatfield! Severe Weather Awareness Week! Today's topic is flash flooding.

Day 3 of Severe Weather Awareness Week is all about flooding. Considering all the rain we've seen across the area this month, this feels like a good time to remind you all of what to do when Flash Flooding is in the forecast (we have excellent timing, we know!) A lot of this can also be used if there's river/areal flooding in your area.
