Syd Olsen was a member of Franklin County Ambulance for many years. She cared for her patients well and had a special gift for caring for the elderly. Syd could find humor in any situation, sometimes at her own expense. She held several different positions including procurement officer, training officer, EMT instructor and ambulance board member. Syd was a mentor and friend to many. Thank you for your service to our community. You will be missed.

Dear residents of Franklin County we wanted to share a few facts about our organization that will hopefully clear up some confusion that we feel has been present.
First off we have more than 12 EMTs in our county. We currently have 22 members of our organization. Some of these EMTs take a lot of extra shifts and some are less active. We are looking for more EMTs to join our agency and help care for our community.
Second we have a large response area. It may seem at times that our responses are delayed; however, as per the audit done by the state of Idaho our agency has some of the quickest response times in the state.
In conclusion, we have had incidents that have required a response from more than one ambulance. We have been able to provided the resources to adequately care for those individuals involved. Last year we had 700 patient contacts. We have responded to every incident that our organization has been paged to and will continue to do so.
We are underfunded and understaffed but because of the love that our dedicated members have for the community we have been and will continue to provide our county with access to EMS services. If you have further questions about our agency contact our administrator Mark Gilbert.

A dear member of our EMS family passed away Tuesday. Grant Gordon was a very active member of our organization and a man who wore many hats. He instructed CPR and EMT classes and was always willing to pick up any shift to cover ambulance calls. He worked behind the scenes with maintenance and supply procurement and did his job very well. He loved EMS and donated thousands of hours of his time. We are extremely grateful for all the service he has given our community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time. He will be deeply missed by our EMS family.

Today a fellow EMT was laid to rest. Dave Kerr was a man of unlimited knowledge. He spent countless years serving our community and our organization. He was always ready with a joke and very willing to share his knowledge and teach those around him. We are very grateful for the privilege of working with this amazing man! Our thoughts are with the Kerr family at this time. May Dave rest in peace.
