Due to recent events I feel the need to say something. Through this election, and as it draws nearer, emotions can rise and become heated. I have noticed a lot of my campaign signs being ran over, come up missing, and overall be disrespected. These signs consume both personal finances and energy, that I feel could be spent better lifting individuals up rather than tearing them down. I simply ask that everyone respect property, mine as well as other candidates. Everyone is entitled to their own feelings and opinions, and to share them, however I ask that they don’t disturb my campaign signs. I am more than happy to sit down and have a conversation with anyone and everyone, and I would hope you all feel I am approachable.

It is with great sorrow I write this post. During the overnight hours Deputy Tobin Bolter of the Ada County Sheriff's Office made the ultimate sacrifice. Deputy Bolter was shot and killed while making a traffic stop in the Boise area. I wish to express my condolences and say that my thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues. Rest in peace, Deputy.

Now that absentee ballots are being delivered I'm getting a lot of questions as to why my name isn't on the ballot. I am still running for Sheriff and I am running for Franklin County (Preston). I am not on the May ballot because I am running as an Independent. I guarantee my name will be on the November ballot and that is when I will need your vote. I appreciate all the support I have received, and look forward to earning more support as the election year goes on.

New friends, old friends, supporters, and everyone in between- my name is Kris Olsen and I’m running for Franklin County Idaho Sheriff in the 2024 election. There have been questions as to why my name is not on the primary ballot in May. I have decided to run as an Independent, this means I will be on the ballot in November 2024.
Please reach out to me with any questions, comments, concerns, etc. I look forward to hearing from, communicating and connecting with, and serving you all.

Before I started at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the statistics showed that there were around a dozen fatal crashes every year. The reason I decided to certify on multiple levels of crash investigation is I felt that I could save lives by investigating these crashes that were happening, therefore finding what traffic problems we were having and where. By 2009, we were down to 1 or 2 a year, experiencing a significant drop in fatalities. This in turn made the roads of Franklin county a safer place for the public and emergency personnel alike to travel on our roads. Safe travel is a vital piece of keeping this county safe and functioning well.
Below you will find three certificates- all showing many hours I studied this. However this goes far beyond classroom hours, in order for one to really understand the subject he/she is studying they must put it to use.
*You may notice that these only start with module two, module one was covered in POST, which is the Peace Officer Standards and Training. All law enforcement must be Idaho POST certified.

I started in emergency services in May of 1995 with the Franklin County Ambulance and ran with them for roughly 12 years. Shortly after, I started dispatching for the Franklin County Sheriffs Office in July of 1996. I began attending the police academy at ISU as a self paid student in January of 1998. I continued to dispatch until October of 1997 when I was hired on patrol for FCSO. During my time with patrol for FCSO, I took on a K9 partner, Annie. I earned a lot of certifications, which will be covered in another post, then transferred to Garden City Idaho in May 2009. During my time in Garden City, I earned a few more certifications, when I then resigned in August of 2013 as I didn't agree with how the administration handled things. I did not agree with how we were expected to deal with the people of the area among other issues. At that time, I made the decision to move my kids home to Franklin County.
