Training Night 5/14/26

PFD spent the evening running training revolutions on the NW side of town. Multiple scenarios and skills were cycled through, allowing members to get hands-on experience in a non-emergent environment.

Skills trained on started with a primary attack team with a backup team staged for entry, entering the structure with a possible victim still inside. As teams advanced a hose line through the home a victim was staged and attack efforts transitioned to rescue. To do this teams located the victim and practiced hydraulic ventilation which clears a room of heat and smoke to increase visibility as well as chance of survival for the victim. The teams then navigated the victim to a separate room where the crew outside had a ladder set up and cleared the window for a second story rescue. Once the victim was safely on the ground crews cleared room by room and exited the structure.

In the nature of an active fire scene scenario, a rehab area was set up. PFD members worked on SCBA tank exchanges on the back of other fire fighters. After a tail board debrief and lessons learned discussion members racked the hose lines and returned to the station.

πŸ”₯🚩 Red Flag Warning 🚩πŸ”₯ in effect 10am-7pm. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. Report fires immediately.

With dry and breezy conditions expected on Thursday, critical fire concerns are expected for parts of the area. With this in mind, a Red Flag Warning will be in effect for areas east of Highway-281 on Thursday.

πŸ”₯ High fire weather continues through the end of the week. Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and become difficult to control or suppress. Call 911 sooner rather than later!

South winds will gust to 35 to 45 mph on Thursday while westerly winds gust to 25 to 35 mph on Friday. With a dry air mass in place, near critical fire weather conditions are expected. Avoid burning if possible.
