🔥 PFD Member Spotlight 🔥
August: Sean Scroggin, Asst. Fire Chief
This month we spotlight Sean! We asked Sean a few questions about his life in and outside of the fire service:
Years of Service: 22 Years Total. 14 years with Hartley and the past 8 years with Primghar.
Certifications Achieved: Fire Fighter 1, Fire Fighter 2, and HazMat Awareness & Operations.
Why do you serve?: I’ve always been drawn to the service of others and have a true passion for the fire service. Knowing you can assist people of our community on possibly one of their worst days has always driven me. Also being a member of Primghar City Council, if I see an opportunity to help or be of service I’m always interested.
Most Memorable Call: BSI Packing fire in Hartley, in Oct of 2005. It was an 18 hour long call with multiple other fire departments. As a young firefighter it’s always stuck with me as one I’ve remembered. Also the large importance of not forgetting socks 😂
Family Life: Married to Brooke Scroggin and 4 children Camden, Maeci, Ellisyn and Brexlee.
Favorite Fire Station Meal: Hands down is Luke Halverson's Deviled Eggs!
Occupation: General Manager of Homegrown Pork in Paullina.
Hobbies: I enjoy the outdoors fly fishing, camping, hunting, golfing and attending my children’s sporting events.
Motivation to Join: When I first moved to Hartley from California, I’ll never forget the current chief of Hartley, Doug Hoagland, knocking on my door and telling me in a very stern voice… “You young man would be a great fit for the Fire Department and it’s a great way to meet new friends and be part of something bigger than yourself! Here is an application. Be there on Thursday next week 7pm!!” …I’ve been a firefighter since.
Thank you Sean! Join us in appreciating this month's PFD Member Spotlight!
