The Board of County Commissioners meet on Tuesday of each week beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the Chesapeake Hearing Room located on the main floor of the County Administration Building, located at 150 Main St. in Prince Frederick. Evening meetings are scheduled when necessary. All regular or special meetings are open to the public. The Commissioners also meet in Executive Session, as allowed by law. Before casting your ballot in Maryland’s primary election, take a moment to confirm your voter registration information.

Maryland primary elections are closed primaries, meaning voters must be registered with the Democratic or Republican party to participate in that party’s primary election on June 23, 2026. Unlike general elections, Maryland primary elections do not allow cross-party voting or ticket splitting.

Voters registered as unaffiliated, nonpartisan or with another political affiliation will not be able to vote in the Democratic or Republican primary election unless they make registration changes by June 2, 2026.

If so, you will not be able to participate in the Democratic or Republican primary election on June 23, 2026, unless you update your political party affiliation.

Maryland primary elections are closed, meaning voters must be registered with either the Democratic or Republican party to vote in that party’s primary election.

The deadline to make updates to your registration before the primary election is Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Completed mail-in ballots can be submitted by mail using the included prepaid envelope. Ballots may also be submitted at any of the four drop boxes available throughout Calvert County until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026:

📍Behind Fairview Library at 8120 Southern MD Blvd. in Owings
📍Southern Community Center at 20 Appeal Lane in Lusby
📍Northeast Community Center at 4075 Gordon Stinnett Ave. in Chesapeake Beach

Drop boxes are secure and ballots are retrieved daily by Election Board staff. Ballots cannot be submitted online, by email or by fax.

Eligible voters who wish to vote by mail must submit a mail-in ballot request form before Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

A mail-in ballot can be requested online with a Maryland driver’s license or MVA-issued ID card. To complete an application online, visit https://ow.ly/UHx250YRf8I. Voters may also request a form by calling the Calvert County Election Board at 410-535-2214.

Completed request forms may be mailed or placed in the Election Board drop box located in front of the Community Resources Building at 30 Duke St. in Prince Frederick.

If you have already received and completed your ballot, you can place it in one of the four secure drop boxes available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, until Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 8 p.m.:

Do you still need to register to vote?

The deadline to register in advance or update your voter registration is Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Register to vote online or download a registration form at www.calvertcountymd.gov/VoterRegistration.

To register for the 2026 Maryland primary election, you must be a U.S. citizen, a Maryland resident and at least 16 years old. To vote, you must be 18 by June 23, 2026.

Registering ahead of time helps make your voting experience quicker. If you miss the June 2 deadline, you can still register in person during early voting (June 11–18, 2026) or on Election Day.

If registering in person, bring a document that shows your current address, such as:
- MVA-issued license or ID
- Utility bill
- Bank statement
- Paycheck or government document
