He’s a man of his word! Today, Chief Caceres kept the challenge he made to these recruits: continue the academy with a 100% pass rate, and he’d buy them all pizza at the end. 🍕

And they delivered.

For the first time in Crater Regional Fire Academy history, Class #4 achieved a 100% first-time pass rate across every major certification and skill requirement. That means every student passed every written exam and practical skill on the first attempt.

Congratulations to Crater Regional Fire Academy Class #4 for setting the standard and showing what’s possible when commitment meets preparation.

Graduation is Friday, April 3rd at 6:30 p.m. at Prince George High School — come out and support these future firefighters! 🚒🚑

At approximately 7:15 PM, units were dispatched to the 10000 block of Walton Lake Road for a reported brush fire. The call was briefly upgraded to a structure fire based on initial reports. Training 1 arrived on scene and confirmed the incident involved a brush fire only.

Due to strong winds and weather conditions, Battalion Chief 3 arrived on scene, assumed command, and issued an all-call response. Crews from every station responded, and the Department of Forestry assisted in controlling the fire. Approximately 2–3 acres burned.

No residents or civilians were injured. One firefighter was injured when a tree fell. The firefighter suffered no burn injuries, was treated, and has since been released from the hospital.

The fire was determined to have originated from trash burning in a burn barrel. Residents believed the fire was out, but winds rekindled and allowed the fire to spread.

As a reminder, Virginia’s 4 p.m. burn law and seasonal burning restrictions remain in effect. We’re urging residents to avoid outdoor burning during restricted hours, never leave any fire unattended, and ensure all fires are completely extinguished with water and thoroughly cooled before walking away. Always check current local burning regulations before burning.

🚑 Life Save Recognition 🚑

On November 2, 2025, Prince George Fire & EMS units responded to a critical incident involving a shooting with multiple victims reported. Upon arrival, Battalion Chief Parker Ramsey quickly entered the scene and located a severely injured patient while Prince George Police Officer McConnell was actively providing immediate first aid.

Despite a volatile and rapidly changing environment, Chief Ramsey and Officer McConnell worked together to stabilize the patient while ensuring scene safety for incoming units. When Medic 6 (Acting Lt. Wendall Lowe and FF Raidyn Anderson) and Medic 5 (FF Evan Davis and FF Cliff Crawford) arrived, crews rapidly coordinated to control bleeding, manage the airway, and expedite transport to definitive care.

During transport, advanced life support measures, including critical interventions to support breathing, were performed. Thanks to their quick, coordinated actions and calm professionalism, the patient survived.

Prince George Fire & EMS proudly recognizes the exceptional teamwork, courage, and clinical excellence demonstrated by Battalion Chief Parker Ramsey, Acting Lt. Wendall Lowe, FF Raidyn Anderson, FF Evan Davis, FF Cliff Crawford, and Officer Amanda McConnell of the Prince George Police Department.
Their dedication under pressure exemplifies the strength of collaboration and the shared commitment to saving lives in our community.

At approximately 1:23 PM, Prince George County Fire & EMS responded to a reported gas leak at J.E.J. Moore Middle School. The building had already been safely evacuated prior to our arrival.

Crews identified a strong odor of gas in the cafeteria/kitchen area and quickly worked to locate the source. The main gas line was secured, and Columbia Gas was requested to respond. After the scene was evaluated and firefighters ventilated the building, students and staff were given the all clear just before 2:00 PM and returned to class.

We appreciate the assistance of Prince George County Police for traffic and crowd control, the school staff for keeping students calm and ensuring a smooth evacuation, and Columbia Gas for their prompt response. This teamwork helped us ensure a safe and efficient outcome.

Units responding: Battalion Chief 1, Company 2, Engine 5, Medic 6, Engine 8, Medic 8

Shortly after 12:50AM, Prince George Fire & EMS units responded to a structure fire in the 6000 block of Thweatt Drive. Battalion Chief 3 was first on scene and reported heavy fire showing from the Bravo side of the residence.

Engine 6 and Engine 2 crews made an aggressive interior attack through the Bravo side, quickly working to bring the fire under control. Rural water supply operations were established using tankers due to limited hydrant access.

All occupants were safely out of the home upon arrival. Unfortunately, one occupant was displaced, and the Red Cross was notified to provide assistance.

We extend our appreciation to Fort Lee Fire & Emergency Services and the Colonial Heights Fire Marshal’s Office for their mutual aid and support during this incident. Great teamwork from everyone involved, and thank you to all who responded in the early hours to protect our community.
