Princess Anne Police Department Reports 32% Reduction in Crime for 2025

The Princess Anne Police Department is proud to announce a 32% reduction in overall crime in 2025 compared to 2024, reflecting the positive impact of proactive policing strategies and focused enforcement efforts.

At the same time crime significantly declined, officer productivity and enforcement activity increased. Arrest totals over the past three years reflect a steady upward trend:

2023: 219 arrests

2024: 276 arrests

2025: 305 arrests

This represents a 39% increase in arrests since 2023, while crime decreased sharply in 2025.

Proactive Policing Driving Results

The reduction in crime is not accidental—it is the result of deliberate, data-driven policing strategies. Research consistently shows that crime decreases when:

The likelihood of apprehension increases

Repeat and high-rate offenders are held accountable

Police focus enforcement efforts on crime “hot spots”

Officers actively address quality-of-life issues before they escalate

In 2025, Princess Anne officers intensified proactive patrols, focused enforcement in high-activity areas, and keep an eye on repeat offenders. By increasing visibility and accountability, the Department raised the perceived certainty of arrest—one of the strongest deterrents to criminal behavior.

Fewer Victims, Safer Community

A small number of repeat offenders are often responsible for a disproportionate amount of crime. By identifying and arresting individuals engaged in ongoing criminal activity, officers disrupted patterns of repeat victimization and prevented additional offenses.

More arrests in this context do not indicate more crime—Its stronger intervention before crimes escalate or continue. The result is fewer victims, safer neighborhoods, and improved quality of life for our residents and our businesses.

Commitment to Smart, Constitutional Policing!!

Proactive policing, when applied strategically and professionally, has been shown nationally to reduce crime—particularly when directed at specific problem areas and repeat offenders.

The 2025 crime reduction demonstrates that focused enforcement, strong officer engagement, and community cooperation make a measurable difference.

“We are proud of the work our officers are doing every day,” said Chief Rob Smith. “Our strategy has been simple: be visible, be proactive, and hold offenders accountable. The numbers show that approach is working. Most importantly, our community is safer because of it.”

The Department will continue to analyze crime data, refine its strategies, and work in partnership with residents to sustain this positive trend into 2026.

Princess Anne, MD – Over the course of nearly 48 hours, officers with the Princess Anne Police Department demonstrated proactive policing and a continued commitment to public safety, resulting in four separate arrests involving illegal drugs, impaired driving, and the recovery of an illegal firearm.

The Princess Anne Police Department remains committed to enforcing traffic laws, combating drug distribution, and ensuring the safety and security of our town.
