As we wrap up AANHPI Heritage Month, we are spotlighting Congresswoman Aumua Amata Coleman Radewagen, the first woman to represent American Samoa in Congress. 👏

Her work advancing equity, opportunity, and support for Pacific Island communities highlights how representation in leadership helps strengthen and uplift communities. 💮✨

We hope you’ve enjoyed learning more about these influential figures during AANHPI history. We here at the YWCA Princeton are proud to spotlight individuals whose stories continue to inspire us to advance a more just and equitable future for all. 🧡

Spreading knowledge, building awareness, and supporting our community is just one part of what our Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC) does. 💗

Last month, our BCRC presented a Breast Health 101 presentation to AAWCC Mercer Chapter at Mercer County Community College. Led by our BCRC team, this complimentary session covers everything from early detection and prevention to understanding risk factors, signs, and symptoms—empowering individuals with the tools they need to take charge of their health. 👩‍⚕️✨👏

A special thank you to Ms. Lucia Brown-Joseph and the AAWCC Mercer Chapter for their continued support, including their fundraiser this past October which helped to benefit our Breast Cancer Resource Center programs. 🥰

Interested in bringing Breast Health 101 to your school, workplace, or community group? We offer both in-person and virtual sessions—because awareness should be accessible to all. For more information make sure to visit our website! 💕

We are back with our AANHPI celebration and today we are honoring Tammy Duckworth, an Iraq War veteran, Purple Heart recipient, and U.S. Senator who has dedicated her life to service and advocacy. 💜👏

Born in Thailand and raised across Southeast Asia, she worked her way through school while supporting her family before serving as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot. After surviving a combat injury that led to the loss of both legs and partial use of her right arm, she became a leading advocate for veterans, working families, and people with disabilities.

At YWCA Princeton, we are inspired by leaders like Duckworth, whose bravery and resilience remind us that true strength lies in service, perseverance, and uplifting others. Her story fuels our commitment to advancing equity, supporting those in need, and creating inclusive spaces where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. 🧡

It’s time to shine, take center stage, and let your creativity take the spotlight 🌟🎭

In Take A Bow, children explore the magic of performance through acting, movement, storytelling, and creative expression. In a nurturing and encouraging environment, young performers build confidence as they discover their voice and bring stories to life. 📖✨

This week, we are highlighting Kiyoshi Kuromiya, a Japanese American activist whose work connected movements for civil rights, LGBTQ+ liberation, and HIV/AIDS advocacy. 💪🏳️‍🌈

Born in a WWII internment camp, he spent his life challenging injustice, from marching alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to expanding access to lifesaving HIV information.

At YWCA Princeton, this work continues through our commitment to advancing racial justice with a focus on community care—ensuring everyone has access to the resources and support they need. We’re grateful to advocates like Kuromiya, whose legacy helps pave the way toward a more just and equitable future for all. 🧡
